Brexit the economy and house prices part 6

What traditionally happens here is Brexiteers either deny the finding, claim they always thought it would happen and that it is a good thing for Brexit, or they'll just plain ignore it.
*Nothing* has changed yet.
There was some court ruling. That's it.
As it stands the plan was : May's government to come up with a deal agreed with the EU, and then put it to parliament.
Gina Miller would have been proud of such a process. She bangs on about it often enough.
So why not carry on with the parliamentary bit?
Personally, I'd like to know which way my MP would vote, so that I can decide where his preference lies.0 -
It has changed in a huge way; people have been banging on for months about how it's irreversible so it doesn't matter if the people don't want to leave, and how it's a choice between Mays deal and WTO.
That it's reversible means there's another viable option, should parliament decide so.
Without Millet we'd be on Mays deal with no ability for anyone to intervene. How would anyone like that?0 -

Right on cue it looks like May has cancelled the vote and gone running to Brussels.
There's obviously no pro-EU shennanigans going on. Nobody noticed. Nothing to see.
If it wasn't obvious before that we are being played it certainly is now.0 -
So all postponed (or maybe even cancelled?) by the morning?
Probably not, but I would not be a bit surprised if it were.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Or maybe it was a simple case they wanted to sort whilst relevant, and May brought the vote forward to try and hold it before the ECJ announcement.0 -

Theres plenty of evidence of the EU ignoring or overturning referendums in other countries over the past 40 odd years, im not sure why we thought this would be different
its just been packaged up differently
It would be nice if the people of the UK kicked up a stink over it, but they know we wont0 -

Can you cite a referendum the EU has overturned or re-ran without tweaking the terms?
Why would the people of the UK kick up a stink about being given a card for their hand that's actually useful? All the ECJ ruling confirms that we don't need the EU27 to permit us to withdraw A50.0 -

Except that it's not obviously favourable for the EU. In fact, it opens such a can of worms for other countries that most people thought the ECJ would play politics and rule the other way to protect the EU.0 -

It would be pretty dumb if they'd waited until after the vote, don't you think?
If they'd been unable to give guidance before the vote, then surely Theresa May should have delayed the vote? Instead the government spent money twice unsuccessfully fighting to make sure the guidance wasn't given at all.
Unless you think the definition of democracy is tricking people into voting without facts (which is a pretty common idea to hold these days).THE_Terry_Urr wrote: »If it wasn't obvious before that we are being played it certainly is now.
It is obvious you're being played, just not by the people you think it is.
So much for sterling losses already being priced in.0
