Honestly? As long as the EU reduces dependence on the UK it doesn't really need to care about us unless we try to act aggressively towards them. They obviously want as close a relationship as possible but not on Mays frankly insulting terms.

What insulting terms are those? The ones that she agreed with Merky before discussing them with her own cabinet only to be shafted by the EU?

The only insults are those which May got from Tusk and Macron in Salzburg and by extension the British people were insulted too.

Can't disagree with that. It was also what the Government booklet handed out before the referendum seemed to imply would happen - and there was still a majority in favour of leave.
That's possibly the most credible argument for s hard brexit I've heard.

I'd find Mays terms insulting since they were ruled out on day 1 and pretty regularly after that. I've no idea why Merkel approved them, assuming she did and May didn't just steam on anyway

I know that some of us on here do value quality UK made goods like hifi Thrug. We had this discussion before.

That model, of product value through longevity and TCO, was never going to satisfy the globalists with their Amazon style visions of a never ending conveyor belt of tomorrow's landfill.

I suspect hi-fis are dying off; I haven't heard of anyone buying or talking one in years. Everyone seems to be using iPod docks or wireless speakers these days.

He is a Brexit voter. At least he didn’t start going on about gramophones and 8 track cassette players.

    More erroneous supposition perchance?
If you haven't heard of anyone buying in years, maybe it's because either you're not listening or you spend too much time elsewhere to notice what goes on in the real world. ;)
The continuing rise of vinyl is a prime example; even my local Sainsbury's sells vinyl albums nowadays.
And what do you think it takes to play one of those albums; try playing a 33 on a wireless speaker.

When strangely it's remainers like yourself wanting to stay in the past, clinging to the skirts of the EU for protection instead of moving on as Brexiters want to do.

Something like hifi is an area where we do export to the world. Even turntables, which will be much to Arklight's disgust.

(I bet he owns an Amstrad ;) )

The UK however has no little to no electronics manufacturing capacity though. Hi-fi is a low volume high end market. UK Space is potentially an area of growth. Likewise new battery storage technology.

Harbeth speakers are manufactured in the U.K. and exported worldwide. The owner and designer is Alan Shaw, who is convinced beyond doubt that Brexit will be damaging for his business and for those who work in it.You can read his views here.
