    Hi all,

I am going to New York for the first time on 22nd January for 6 days. Please can you advise if I should change up some money to dollars now or should I wait a little longer? The best rate I found today is 1.45.

I also have a nationwide card which I will be taking.

    Thanks in advance x

My crystal ball is in for a service right now. As soon as I get it back, I'll let you know!!

  • I need to exchange the other way round. I worked for EDS and had a load of shares which were compulsorily purchased by HP, so I now have US$ cheques to the value of $30k+ and no US$ account.
Does anyone have a suggestion about the best way to get these converted to GBP?

  • Try looking at Transfer companies one of the best apparantly is TORFX. They work nearer to the bank rate so you will get much better rates than you will with others. Hope that helps.

  • As this is the US Currency Questions & Answers Thread, Im hoping someone might be able to help me.
Can someone advise me if there any forums or researched articles by Martin on the main site advising to the +/- of opening US$ accounts e.g with Halifax etc?
I have been looking but any info tends to refer to travellers cheques or low denomination transactions.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I've just checked the Visa Exchange Rate online, and it says it's currently 1.77! Is that right or am I seeing things?

  • Strange but I'm seeing it too, however XE.com says different! So I'm guessing its a mistake.

No way would it jump 27 cents in a day.
