also whats the best sites to watch or give guides on which way the currencies are gonna go,cheers guys

Who knows? It's all dependent on whose crystal ball is the most reliable. Watch the financial pages and listen to the news. Its the only way to gather information.

Altho I have heard reports that the Americans may cut their interest rates again to stop deflation, they could end up with interest rates at zero

If I understand correctly, if the US has 0% interest, then the UK would be a better place for money so the pound would get stronger.

I'm glad I have bought my tickets and don't have to worry about it
  • hi guys reading this with great interest,am i best getting my park tickets now even though im gonna buy them in the uk so wont be paying dollars and what the expected forecast to roughly be next april,i know no one knows whats really gonna happen but whats the general feeling with the pound dollar, from what im reading everywhere i think the pound will go down more but maybe rise next year,if i can get $1.50 for my pound i suppose i'd be happy with that, what do you guys think?

Never bought in the UK, but I think UK tickets are fixed price and not affected by the dollar? Better off asking in the Florida thread (I guess that is where you are going)
  • The only thing you can do in reality is hedge your bets. Buy half now and half again when you travel.

I am not at all qualified to advise, but my feeling is the dollar is going to strengthen more against the pound before it drops back down to a more reasonable level.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Do you know the best place to buy $$ at the mo, somebody said the post office at the best at the moment? thank you x

It depends when you are going - crowncurrency exchange offer the best rates if you are prepared to wait a few weeks for delivery. the longer you can wait the better the rate is.

for example i have dollars arriving on 2nd december at the rate of 1.64 (booked them 4 weeks ago when most travel agents were offering 1.52

I have just been on Crowns site looking to buy futures for April 09. They are currently just behind TMS with those particular prices. Can only get $1.53 for April delivery:eek:

Still, I only have myself to blame for watching it slide all this time. Was going to wait till nearer April hoping it had picked up but dare not do that now with the reports of further falls to come!

It has cost me £750 extra now for the same amount of $`s:mad:

The $2 was an aberration caused by high interest rates here.

As to what's going to happen, the general advice given here is 'don't know'.

Maybe watch something like crowncurrencyreserve's rates for buy now delivery later. That's probably the best guide to what experts think. Experts are frequently wrong though on subjects like this.
