  • I'm really stuck as to what to do about the dollar at the mo. My OH and i fly to America for Christmas on the 22nd December, really not sure when to buy my currency. The dollar is really bad at the mo, but do i run the risk, and wait incase it goes up? i really don't know. xx

The only thing you can do in reality is hedge your bets. Buy half now and half again when you travel.

I am not at all qualified to advise, but my feeling is the dollar is going to strengthen more against the pound before it drops back down to a more reasonable level.

  • It looks as though the pound is making a little bit of a comeback this morning so far - it's up nearly 3 cents at nearly $1.50. Fingers crossed it'll continue a steady rise!
  • I'm going to get some when it goes to $1.50 in the shops, then the rest nearer the time. Think it will recover to about $1.60 by about Feb.

    Cheers

I have no financial experience, but I am curious as to if the rate will go up a bit tomorrow follow this "Meeting of leaders" thing that happened over the weekend.

If only I had followed my hunch - could have saved £20-30 on my tickets.

If they're dollar travellers cheques, wouldn't it be better to change them back now to pounds?? As the pound is weak I think you'd get more back that way wouldn't you??
