Its hard to work out what will happen. I didn't buy any cos I have no money at the mo so I hope it will go up or at least be around $1.60. Trading at $1.45 at the mo. I'll keep everyone updated if it goes anywhere near $1.604 free batteries, Shawshank DVD + 3 films, 3 Months free at Love Film, Grolsh Glass, Teddies for the kids, Moving house pack, dippo water device, tickets for motorshow.0

I go next Friday to Orlando. The missus and I finally tied the knot back in September and this is our Honeymoon. Typically the exchange rate's slid!
I've not exchanged one cent yet due to waiting for all of my various employers to stump up. I'm so paranoid it'll go even lower:(Bankrupt 28/07/08!0 -
It's annoying because Travelex (which you pick up your money at the airport) makes you buy a minimum of £100 in dollars when purchasing on their site for a pick up. I wanted to originally buy some dollars now and the rest say, next week incase the rate goes up (or probably down now).0

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

arghhh i'm kicking myself.
off to the US in 2 and a half weeks. priced up our independent hol back in sept at rate of around 1.80 dollars to the pound...have paid deposits but thats all on hotels...and still have approx $1100 to pay...and stupidly havent bought dollars as yet in the hope they'd go back up (and indeed it did to at least 1.63 before this icky plummet) so do i suck up the fact that i've been daft and get the rest of my dollars now...or wait and hope it gets better...or just use my post office credit card out there.
i can't believe how daft i've been! Any advice appreciated.
Thanks0 -
How about buying half your dollars now and put half on your PO card while youre out there.....then you split the different of the rate between now and then.illegitimi non carborundum0

I am going in March and bought £1100 of Disney tickets today as I have seen reports that it could go as low as $1.25 - others are saying it will recover, but like you I have watched it slide form $1.80
Thing to remember about your credit card is that they will probably charge you a % on any transactions you do out there, so I should imagine that unless it recovers by more than about 5%, you won't actually be any better off defering and putting it on your card.
I have no financial experience, but I am curious as to if the rate will go up a bit tomorrow follow this "Meeting of leaders" thing that happened over the weekend.
Like I said, I bought my tickets today, so as to avoid the worrying and fretting about it all.
Still need to buy about $500 - 1000 spending money, but I can wait until March for that and will see how the rate goes.0
