  • I ordered with Crown for next month, but once I got the confirmation decided not to order as I was worried about transferring money and not having the protection of using a card. I just assumed that if I didn't pay it would get cancelled. I placed the order weeks ago and haven't heard anything about not paying, but am now worried that they may send a debt collector round for the £50 cancellation fee. I dont know if I should contact them to check that it's ok and I dont have to pay or that by contacting them I will prompt them into demanding the money. Any advice?

Put your car in the garage and dont let the debt collector inside your house!!!

Seriously, look at what your T&Cs were on your order, as it seems to have been a moving target recently.

There are no T & C's on my order confirmation so I dont know what they were at the time of my order. Just assuming they were the ones on the previous page that says £50, as they have recently changed from that. Even more worrying for me is that I didn't use my address for delivery as I dont have a fixed abode at present (but had planned to be at delivery address on delivery date) so I dont want them going round their house demanding money. Crown have my email and mobile number so surely would have to contact me with some kind of warning or reminder to pay first before employing anyone to recover money, right?

Careful they make break in and take your tv and dvd player

If they chase you for the money , then do a counterclaim for harrasment

I very much doubt they will chase you for the £50 the t&c were all over the place and wouldnt stand up in court....

I wounder how they would cope with numerous bogus orders??? mmm not sure but for the hassle they gave me i fancy ordering some more currency :rotfl:

And still you don't say if you purchased a forward contract or a immediate delivery exchange.

Judging by the new terms it actually seems there is no mention of cancelling forward contracts at all. Only a mention that ASAP orders cant be cancelled, so from that I can only assume that if forward contracts aren't paid they are cancelled.

    CANCELLATION POLICY
The Company reserves the right to cancel any order at any time for any reason. In the event of the Company cancelling an order the customer will be reimbursed the full amount paid, by cheque or credit transfer depending on the initial form of payment.
Once an ASAP order has been placed, it cannot be cancelled, however, the company may buy back the currencies, (NOT Travellers Cheques), through the buy back option.

    Todays Standard..........
The pound fell against the dollar, as expected, falling from from $1.585 to $1.570, and then mounted a surprise recovery to above $1.60.
