i was the one who advised about not trusting any organisation where your deposit was not protected.

however my concern is that the dollar will continue to increase against serling.

i am going to the states in april and have £1500 available now to change. its currently sitting in a high interest account (used to be kaupthing edge) and earning interest.

i would hate to be in a position where i simply sit on my funds and find that the rate of exchange has dropped by the time i go away..choices choices
I'd go for it if I were you.

I've been keeping track of the dollar and last week it was 1.51 and on Monday it dropped to 1.49 so I changed all of my holiday money because I was afraid it was going to drop! And to be fair, all the advice I had got from people indicated that it's going to get worse so I thought I'd cash in now.

But I've checked today and it's jumped up to 1.55 which I'm gutted about! Over a considerable amount of pounds which I've changed, that's a massive difference!

Citibank dollar savings account? Although likely not much interest if the US rates are going the way they are predicted to go.

Is that the 'official' currency exchange rate or the 'tourist' one?

Nobody knows the answer to that question as we can't predict the future; it's a gamble as to whether you buy now or wait for a while to see if it increases.
