Same here.
I'm going to NYC in December, and worry that the rate will go even further down. Last week (with the Post Office at least) was around 1.54, but this week it's now 1.43
I'm looking to take around £500/£1000 for spends. Should I just change that full amount now or wait? (and pray!)
Buy half now and half before you go.... that way if it goes down you're thankful you got in early. If it goes up your thankful you didn't get it all at the poor rate.0 -
I have to pay for my holiday within the next week in dollars
We booked it some time ago, so our holiday is now costing approx £400 more due to this pound / dollar fiasco !!
Question.
We are going to Tanzania. Is it possible for us to purchase Kenyan Shillings from sterling in this country, and then exchange these shillings in Tanzania for dollars? Would that work?
Is there anything I'm missing here?

I have around $400 left from USA hol so I can sell them back for a lot better than I paid. I bought them from the Post Office who were better than my bank at the time. Anyone know the best place to sell them on the high street??0

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Going in 2 weeks and not sure if I should exchange the lot now (about £1000 worth) or just use my Nationwide Debit Card over there. Will I get a better rate by doing that?0 -

As of today you will get around 5 cents more per your pound if you use your nationwide card, however a lot of ATM's over there charge a few $'s to withdraw cash so that advantage would probably be taken in fees.
Also if the rate drops more than 5cents by the time you go you would have been better exchanging now.0 -

Thanks for the advice Baz. I'll get some today then. I did get £250 worth in July at $1.90 so at least that cheers me up slightly!0 -
as far as i was aware there is no fee when using the nationwide card.0

Gutted, I bought £500 worth of dollars yesterday at the Post Office at a rate of 1.49, and today it's popped up a little to 1.51.
Not a huge difference, but still better than yesterday!0 -
