Hi has anyone done the price match thing with Travelex? I need to price match against Thomas Exchange Global for dollars to collect at Heathrow on Friday. Do I order in advance at the Travelex rate and then just take a printout of the Thomas exchange website rate and they refund the difference or do I need them to pricematch in advance?
thanks,
Jo0 -
$600 went for £365.......$1.62 including £5 postage.......thats a good rate.
Could be fine, but I always err on on the side of suspicion...2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I don;t know but I do remember that travelex explain in detail how to do it on their website. I suggest you go read it. I think it entails emailing them the website your match with and for them to confirm it. Which means the quicker you do it the better. But read the instructiosn so you dont muck it up.0 -
The $ to the £ rate should rise a bit later today if the Fed as expected cuts US interest rates by 0.5% points.0

crown-currency is offering 1.65 to the pound for delivery in February 2009.
the bank of england is without a doubt going to cut interest rates this week as well so any gains if the usa cut rates will soon disappear.
i am tempted to change at least some of my sterling to get this rate.0 -
Although I used Crown last year and found them excellent, as someone earlier rightly pointed out, with the current level of financial turmoil, would you want your money tied up with them.....not a bank therefore no FSA compensation scheme.illegitimi non carborundum0

For the reason Froggit said I decided against Crown. Just for the gain of five cents in a pound it didn't seem worth it.. For me I was looking at changing £500 so I would have been taking a risk for an extra $25.0

Indeed. My savings are in Icesave.....who thought they would go bust.
By the way, Im not saying anything specifically against Crown......its just generally where large sums of money are concerned, its best to stick to the safest at this point in time.
Maybe Crown put client money into a separate account that you would still have access to if they went down.......I dont know......as you say, not worth the risk for $25 and a jar of clotted cream.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
i was the one who advised about not trusting any organisation where your deposit was not protected.
however my concern is that the dollar will continue to increase against serling.
i am going to the states in april and have £1500 available now to change. its currently sitting in a high interest account (used to be kaupthing edge) and earning interest.
i would hate to be in a position where i simply sit on my funds and find that the rate of exchange has dropped by the time i go away..choices choices0 -
How about small scale currency speculation eg on IG Index, Betfair/Tradefair or similar? Bet that the rate will drop......if it does you win the bet and have more cash to exchange at the new lower rate, if it doesnt, you lose the bet but you will able to buy your currency at a higher rate.illegitimi non carborundum0
