Morning all.......
Blimey, £ has took a bit of a beating overnight guys. $1.4524
The US Dollar advanced to start the trading week as US stock index futures slipped over 1% in overnight trading, suggesting risk aversion may be returning to financial markets. An uneventful calendar in European hours will likely see risk sentiment remain the principal driver for forex price action0 -

08:06 27Apr09 (GBP) This week in the UK
(GBP) The UK economic data load lightens up this week, although there will continue to be reverberations from last week's data and events on GBP and Gilts. In terms of the data releases, we will glean the first snapshot of the latest trends in high street spending in the Apr CBI distributive trades survey on Tues. On Weds, the GfK publishes its Apr consumer confidence survey, which should be affected by rising unemployment on the one hand, and by falling household utilities bills on the other. The Apr Nationwide house price report on Thurs will be combed for clues on whether its report of a surprise rise in house prices in Mar was merely an aberration. The forward looking Apr CIPS manufacturing sector survey on Fri will be scrutinised for signs of whether the pace of activity contraction is continuing to slow. BoE data on Mar mortgage approvals and lending to the household sector on Fri should reveal an ongoing pedestrian pick- up in the volume of mortgage approvals in Mar, whilst mortgage lending should show an acceleration, with net consumer credit shifting back into net borrowing territory, following a net debt repayment in Feb.
We expect the retailing aspect of the CBI distributive trades survey to show an above -consensus improvement in the reported sales balance to -32 in Apr, from -44 in Mar. The Gfk consumer confidence indicator for Apr should hold steady at -30, with positive influences cancelling out the negative effects. Nationwide's house price report is forecast to show a 0.8% m/m drop in Apr, after a puzzling 0.9% m/m rise in Mar, but the y/y rate should firm slightly, to -15.3%. We expect to see rise in the Apr manufacturing sector PMI to 40.1, from 39.1 in Mar. BoE data on mortgage approvals should show another monthly rise, to 40.0K, from 37.9K in Feb. Mortgage lending should also reveal a pick up, to GBP1.7bn in Mar, from GBP1.5bn in Feb, with net consumer credit also expected to do likewise.
BoE Executive Director for Financial Stability, Andy Haldane, speaks at a Financial Student Association conference in Amsterdam, on Tues. Elsewhere the BBA publishes its Mar bank
mortgage approvals data on Mon, whilst the BoE publishes its first Asset Purchase Facility quarterly report on the same day. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

did everyone have a good weekend?
i went to visit my little brother in hospital. he fell off his motorbike last week, he had a 9hr op on thursday to repair 3 out of the 4 major ligaments in his knee. apperently he completely snapped them.
he now needs 8 weeks of rehabilitation before he has another op to mend the last ligament that they couldn't get to. they said he will not walk properly for 9 months and never play and active sport again. so, !!!!!! weekend for me.
just hoping the pound can gain some ground before i get married this friday.:)0 -
