It seems that someone asks this question every other day.

I did wonder ... but be careful, some people will take you seriously!
True, but it should be the people taking the advice on an open forum who should be careful.
No one can really tell what exchange rates will do. I regularly check the Euro rate on the BBC website so that I can get a feel for things but that's all it is a feeling. I got lucky when I bought my Euros at the start of September, the rate has dropped significantly since then!.....0 -
exactly ...if you know what's going to happen to exchange rates on a monthly basis you'd be sat in the City on a million+ a year0

Hi All
Im off to Florida in November and am wondering if it would be worth buying dollars for my trip now taking into account how weak the dollar is against the pound at the moment. If I wait until the near the time the exchange rate may not be so good??
Can anyone advise??
:T2008 is the year to:
1.Sort out electricity meter (if its the last thing I do-at least is means my other half will be left with the bill  )
2.Save enough c/card points for holiday to Mauritius next year
3.Start stoozing-maybe a slow one to begin with!0 -
Well maybe it will, maybe it won't. Only a fool would advise you.
Some companies may offer a better rate for future delivery - could be worth considering. Some posters have expressed distrust of them - though for no good reason I can see.
It's up to you which way you gamble.0 -
Go to https://www.oanda.com.
Check out their history tools etc and it'll give you an idea of how the pound and the dollar have fared over recent months and years.
And then you makes your choice and takes your pick.
If anyone tells you they know how the dollar is going to be against the pound in November they're either a fool or a liar .... and if they had any skill in exchange rates they certainly wouldn't need to log on to this website.
Having said that ...I'd buy them now.0 -
This subject is getting done to death every other day on this board.0

This website allows you to buy dollars in advance and you get a better rate. Take a look http://www.travelmoneyservices.co.uk/content/us-dollars.asp0

as other posts state, fluctuations in exch.rates cannot be accurately predicted but it APPEARS that the £ will slide this year. maybe the $ will as well. who knows.
I've taken a guess and bought a load card (in this case caxtonfx) and slapped 750 euro's on. I go to europe quite a lot so it comes in useful - but I'll be the first to admit that this is pure speculation.miladdo0
