Yes, you have the perfect scenario to take advantage of this great deal since you are going in Easter 08:

Well I certainly don't come here to listen to to**ers like you. I travel extensively all round the world and I find most people on this site very helpful ( you're the exception). I'm often able to help others too so its a reciprocal arrangement. As for your sarcy comments about the timing of my dollar purchase, I received over 2. It was actually 2.05, which I am happy with and it may be of some value to others. This may or may not be the best time to exchange, who knows? I wouldn't be so smart as to try and tell people when to change. I would simply say change when you're happy with the rate. I was happy at 2.05. I believe its dropped a little since then. As for you BF try moving over to the Angry Investor where acting like a complete pr*ck seems to be acceptable.

    Ouch, chill out. :p
Slightly over $2 implies just that. £2.05 is a bit more than "slightly" hence the comments, so congrats:beer: for getting that off a Thomsons Holiday Shop , who normally are battling with the PO for "worst rate available"
My bark can sometimes be worse than my bite but on the whole, I think I try to help as much as I can, look at the stats!

Still, I still think it is something worth considering for next time though. Buy off Travelex, pricematch with TEG (up to £50 pp) then keep or cancel depending the way the rate moves

So, how does a strengthened dollar help with high oil prices? Surely a weaker dollar is better for those who need to buy oil?
I can just about understand it but don't ask me to explain it :D

You were a bit slow, the rate has already dropped about 0.05 from what you could've gotten earlier. If you're only thinking of doing this now, I would follow my other post and run the numbers again to see whether it's still a good deal.
  • Busy bee but the rate is still good. How do I know my money is safe? A reasonable question I think.

Crown Currency is a big name company, that's about all I can say.
  • Hiya all,I appreciate that I amy have missed the boat to a certain degree but I am still really tempted by the offer that CROWN CURRENCY are still offering on the dollar for next year....The dollar is starting to drop on the high street and I don't need my money until August next year for a trip to the US and they are offering $2.10 to the £1 which is evidently a really good deal and one that I feel I cannot match with the interest that I would gain through my bank...I am a little scared of dealing with an internet company... Has anyone had any experience with them?? Good or Bad???Please let me know what you thinkMany ThanksPaddy:-)

If you are scared of dealing with them, then the answer is don't. But there's no need to be.

Remember you are gambling on the movements of the $$. Whichever way you decide.

Crown Currency are not - when you pay them they will buy future dollars from a currency speculator, pay him now and receive the $$ just before they are due to be delivered to you. He's the one taking the risk, and he probably knows what he is doing. If he gets it wrong (and he's probably hedged it anyway) he's rich enough to pay up.

The bottom line is I don't believe that using Crown Currency is particularly risky. There's probably a bigger risk that you will have to cancel your trip and lose more than the saving you might make on changing them back again.

Nobody, I repeat nobody knows how any currency will rise or fall in the future, if anyone did, they would never need to work again.

If you are happy at todays rate buy now, if you want to take a chance, wait.
