But note that I was talking billable hours, then including the non billable ones in my "take home" because, if I was an employee, all those hours would count.

In any given day I might spend an hour on the phone to customers, 2 or 3 hours dealing with in-person enquiries in the shop, another hour sorting out post in & out, half an hour on general admin and ordering parts, another half hour general tidying and shop presentation stuff. I say again, my local garage charges me £40 for the hours THAT HE WORKS ON MY CAR. If you can't make a profit doing the same, you have no clue as to how to run a business. And what the hell are you doing on a money saving forum if you're a business owner? This forum is for CUSTOMERS trying to SAVE MONEY, not business owners justifying their RIP OFF prices.

Tax pays for what the government wants to spend it on, not what the citizens want. Tax is theft and everyone should avoid it as much as possible.

The profit in a garage should come from the labour charge, not hidden money added onto parts. Cowboys don't get my return custom.

A coffee shop is not marking up the cost of the cake, they're adding on the cost of them baking that cake. It's a LABOUR CHARGE.

Funny how my local garage doesn't add markup and makes a healthy profit. Some companies are not thieving cowboys, they're the garages that continue to get return custom.

Seems to me you need to move to a country with a dictatorship.

We don't have a democracy. We vote for one of a small handful of fairly similar parties, then get no say in what happens for the next 5 years. A true democracy would have us vote on all major decisions individually.

I only voted Tory because BNP and UKIP didn't have a candidate in my area this time round.
