JoJo that sounds exciting, you clearly have talent so have got to make the most of it.
Thanks for all the congratulations and sorry I have been awol. I get two members of staff, one in September and one next Spring but for the time being I am on my own so will be working full time. I really need to keep doing some flying to try and stop the house becoming a complete mess, which is going to be tough.
Both boys are at home for the next month so they can help and I am not letting them off lightly.
Have had quite a lazy day, did some grocery shopping and some laundry, had a drive out to the coast. Forecast is for rain tomorrow so will get caught up on some more jobs.0 -
She's home, apparently having eaten and doesn't want what I prepared.
I have potential.arranged to visit a colleague with a baby and twins under 2.
I know she hates being single. Can't solve that though.
RANT
Why is it all my effing problem. I never deserted her. I never lied to her. That was her effing dad who did that but I had to pick up the pieces and not once, not effuing once, did I badmouth him to her. And I got all sorts thrown at me. I just stood m6 ground and fought to stay in our hone so they didn't have to move ve schools. And having been to 5 schools and having lived in 4 different towns in more houses than I can be bothered. To count I know how hard that is... my sister and I both HATE moving,..
Their dad wanted us to move in with my parents so he could have his cut but I fought that.

Is this what DD has thrown at you today?? I think mine would have had a mouthful back.. giving ALL those things you just specified.. and being called an ungrateful little brat.. actually that sounds like a conversation had in here a couple of times.. She is an adult, free to make her own choices and decisions. Maybe being single so she can grow as a person and develop emotionally and learn to stand on her own two feet will benefit her.. having a partner as a crutch doesn't do anyone any favours. You are a strong woman because you have had to fend for yourself and survive hardships and you shielded her from that.. maybe you should have let her know then the struggles you went through.. hindsight is a fabulous thing. I do share the horrid stuff with the older ones, they are aware of my feelings and the struggles I have and they seem to have respect for that..
It isn't your problem.. you can help her address her problems and find ways to fix them but you cannot and should not do it for her.. you equipped her with the tools to do that for herself... I can't see you raising a wishy-washy woman.. give her a kick in the right direction and serve her up some truths! She is old enough to know them!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Valli, wot Piggers said. Also, these outbursts don't just happen in single parent families. DD doesn't live here obviously any more, but is an anxious person who still has major strops. Her husbands problem now. I just refused to argue with her in the end. However I think my DD could benefit from speaking to someone about all the things that worry her. I just need to find the right time to raise it.
It's damp here this morning so not entirely sure how I'll be spending the day but I have 14 hours on my own so I'd better do something.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
She hasn't said anything, I'm just feeling sorry for myself because I'm dealing /have had to deal with everything by myself despite the fact that she has a dad.
They both know I battled to stay put, and more, too, and she didn't invite har dad to her graduation...it was me and my Mum - who has been such a support to us. I don't think he's having much contact with either of them.
She's just gone very, very quiet over the past few days.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Thanks for the pill-giving advice, Jojo.
(((Hugs))) Valli. I suspect that now that she's finished uni and started work, reality is hitting very hard. She's now a fully-fledged adult in a rather unforgiving, tough world and is probably, through social media, all too aware that some of her cohort are having more fun this summer than she is. The being single thing is very difficult at that age, too. It takes a lot of practice and self-discipline to learn to enjoy being single and it's a skill that most young people don't want to develop; they'd rather just be in a relationship. I don't know any of the answers, just that these aren't your problems to solve. Up until now you probably have been able to solve most of her problems for her. You can't fix her being a grown up.
I'm struggling at the moment.Better is good enough.0 -
Thank Honey Bear.

Hi, sorry to have been awol.
((Hugs)) Valli. It's horrible when you can't fix stuff for them, but that's how it goes. It's a tough world, and social media doesn't help. In my opinion, anyway.
Today....drum roll...we finally have rain. And gales. The builders last week obviously tried to use the water butts. As they were empty (duh!), they helpfully then left the taps open. Water butts are now still empty.
Yesterday evening, DD and I went to an open air cinema to see Baby not being put in a corner. We had a lovely, if chilly evening. Today I am busy freezing the mound of beans that I picked yesterday morning. Obviously there is no room in the freezer so a game of freezer tetris and weirdo meal planning will happen this afternoon.0
