Rained here as well over night, no thunder or lightening, the wind is gusting as well now at 30 mph (according to the local 'airport' weather.)

OH is off out on his bike

I'm going to tidy round, then I might have a wander of the local shops

Dailies done, dogs walked. Need to do a quick browse on t'internet, then I'll get out in the greenhouse while it's cool enough to work in there.

We appear to have had rain here, currently dry though and I have washing blowing on the line.Went to a wedding reception last night; a couple of songs reminded me of Janice; but happy memories - December 63 (Oh what a night) because all three of us went to see The Jersey Boys with mum (and I am clearly a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons fan;)) and Wake Me Up Before you Go Go. Now I can smile when I hear them.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

I've just put the bedlinen out on the whirligig; it took me ages (Mr LW usually hangs it out, but he's out at the moment) but it's now blowing merrily in the breeze.

  • How did the kitchen still manage to look filthy when I came down the stairs this morning?

Back door and frame (both sides) bleached. Kitchen window cleaned on outside.

Millions of crumbs from Himself's fresh bread snack attack at about 2am cleared up. Butter removed from cooling rack. Breadknife added to washing up. Butter knife added to washing up. Jam knife added to washing up. Plate added to washing up. Mugs added to washing up.

    Appliance tops all cleaned again.

Where is all this recycling coming from? We have nowhere to put it when the tubs are full.

Bath inspected. I've scrubbed it three times in the last week, haven't used it once in favour of the shower, but it's filthy again. Spray sprayed onto it whilst I headed for the shower again.

Shower room floor swept before use. Loo roll inners retrieved from behind cistern.

Dirty cleaning cloths dumped in WM.

Corner of kitchen by back door scrubbed.

    Entire kitchen swept again.

Bannisters dusted. Bits of edging within reach cleaned.

Himself is about to cook, so has to do some washing up because I've been too busy with other things to even look at it.

    Countertops need cleaning again.

Stuff outstanding: three drawers, cat food cupboard, cupboard under the sink, floor, oven. Gap underneath oven.

Expected stuff: washing up after food, mugs, glasses, sink and surrounds.

    This is ridiculous.

The house looks OK. Not sure I’ll manage to get the rest done, but it’s getting there. The garden is the bit that is going to need work next week.

Lift sofa cushions, swap around if you can and vacuum all those crevices

    Twinkly Tuesday kitchen and dining
    Level 2
    Wipe table and chairs
    dust in dining room

Thursday Thrill Hall, stairs, landing or a neglected room
    Level 1
    Dust wood
    Wipe sockets and switches
    Level 3
    Clean windows and light fittings
    Polish door knob and numbers
    Sweep step (outdoors)

f*/- it, it's Friday and it's too hot
Look at your Toots list (because, let's face it, it's too hot to do anything else)

Camellia and money plant repotted. The money plant is way older than the vallikids.. and probably some Flyladies. Camellia was given to me by a good friend when Janice died, in her memory. It hasn't shown any sign of flowering this year, one assumes because it was potbound.
Tea is chicken salad wraps. Salad bits prepped and dropped in sectioned dish so that persons can select preferred items (inc raw mushrooms) and dish in fridge. This was a go-to (ie CBA) summer holiday tea but as DD is at work it will be an easy meal for her when she gets home. She's very quiet, methinks she is dipping mentally. Any advice appreciated as I would like to support her but struggle to know how. I'm a glass half full kinda person. And an optimist.

Depends if it is 'just' her mood dipping or whether she's not been eating or drinking properly for the last few weeks due to heat & feeling a bit meh/stressed. Or if she's due on anyway, as that knocks a lot of us down.

Himself reckons that me being relentlessly chirpy and telling him about my day made a difference because it meant he knew there was still a world outside. And as I was the only person doing any cooking, I made things the way I liked them, which was what I suppose you would now call Instagram-friendly, ie, lots of bright colours of fruit and veg, light dressings, herbs, edible flowers, small plates, yoghurt on fresh fruit salad rather than assuming he'd pick a banana up if he wanted something - that kind of thing.

That way, he found it possible to eat even when he didn't feel like it beforehand, which gave him a bit more energy and it worked up to nice smells enticing him out to see what's happening.

I've also always kept the bathroom very nice and just happened to put some things that he would like in there, such as decent shower gel rather than whatever stuff was cheap, clean towels, a little decoration (a punk rock yellow duck with a pink mohawk sat on the bath got a reaction, for example),

They sound like silly or pointless things, but even when he was so low he could barely speak, he noticed them.

  • Curtain Himself has inexplicably decided doesn't fit on the pole upstairs (left one on there, doesn't want the second) has been brought down, debugged and hung over the back door.

Dark corner behind showerroom door has been cleared, cat scratching post has been moved out where they can [strike]fight over it[/strike] use it more than the tableleg [glares at Idiot Cat] after realising half the detritus on the floor to be swept up - AGAIN - was him giving himself a manicure.

The next couple of hours will be spent watching a Creature Feature/Monster Movie (my favourites), eating Tapas-y things and NOT thinking about how much work there is left to do out there.

I need to find a picture or two to put up in the kitchen. Seeing as they will be complementing the How To Identify A Zombie poster in there, there is some thought required.

And I've submitted an application to audition for a choir. Not a rock or pop type, all are welcome one, a 'We travel the world and have performed on Radio 3 so you have to pass an audition and fit in with the director's vision' classical choir. I wouldn't have even considered it, what with it being all high faluting proper music rather than my rather lackadaisical folk, punk, rockabilly and swing, but a couple of friends are members and apparently a personal recommendation has piqued interest. It probably doesn't hurt that I'd be able to sort out any technical problems, either.

If they're genuinely interested, auditions will be in September. And it'll get me out of the house, away from work and their nonsense - and I do rather like Early Music for some reason.
