Thank you all for checking in.
My meeting went well. When I turned up he looked like he was in a really bad mood for various reasons I'd been aware of, so knew I needed to tread carefully. I told him I'm a resource who could offer more value and that's when he sat forward, so a good sign there!!! He also agreed that the area I want to move to is the area he wants me to move to, so he's asked me to wait a couple of weeks until he can make the announcements. Once I've finished covering the work I'm involved in now due to the manager here being sick I'll speak with my potentially new department to see if there's anything they want me to look at as a sort of easier transition to them.
I also had a meeting with the man who runs the area I want to move to and he seems really good. Someone I can respect too as he knows the role inside out and has lots of methodologies and templates etc, so a very well structured department.
Thanks for asking. xx0 -
Financially this week has been a bit of a sort out in my head. As I'm trying to get cleared out in my home, I'm seeing so much that needs doing and I'm so excited and keen to get it done. So, yesterday I applied for an increase on my credit card and was stunned that the amount I requested was approved instantly online. So when they have another interest fee deal of 0% on money transfers, I'll withdraw the most I can and then get work started. I can't see that happening for a few months, but at least now I have what I need in place. I still want to rearrange things at home too, so timing works out.
In other financial news, I overspent again last weekend. I'm really in a spendy mood and I'm sure it's psychological so I need to figure out what causes that trigger to see if I can counteract it.
April is going to be a tough month with the car expenses due. Which reminds me that I need to schedule my MOT in!
Happy Hump Day.

Glad the meeting went well mt. A little weight off of your mind.
I do agree that overspending can be psychological. We all have to let ourselves go at times and why not ? Things happen and a boost is always welcome now and again . Of course keeping focused as you do, it'll only be a treat now and again and won't go out of hand.
I can imagine maintaining the car can be exhausting at times .
April is the month of council tax increases and in my case renewing my home insurance . Well March 31st . Then utility bills and broadband etc seem to go up at the same time. There's always something .0 -
It sounds as if you sitting tight paid off at work. Well done.
Re the spending, you know why you are doing it so as long as you reign it in before any damage is done it isn't so bad. I'm thinking of having a 'fun money pot' so I can go 'off grid' now and then. Would that work for you?If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Wow! Almost a month since I updated. I log in and read others but just haven't added anything for me.
Thanks for the suggestion DIA. Maybe I do need a squander fund! Definitely worth thinking about.
Thanks AC for the justification and showing me that I'm "normal" on the over spending front.
While I was feeling spendy I decided that if I felt an overwhelming urge to buy things then I should make it about a better future. I can't go into too much detail at this point (I hate being cryptic, sorry) but hopefully can do soon. I do now have a renewed sense of paying things off now though so I think it's back under control. That doesn't happen often to me, so I still feel I need to find the source and work on that but I'm relieved that I now want to save again.
This change in weather has helped my mental state too. Promises made in the meeting I had have had to be postponed (genuinely) so I contacted the person I want to work for and asked what I can do to make a potential move/transition easier and so now I have some things to study. I also dug out my course work from courses I've done in the past for that type of role so as I have no work I can still be genuinely busy with work things again.
Easter was lovely. I did attempt to visit a friend in Brighton on Sunday, which was such a rookie mistake on a hot Bank Holiday weekend! So I ended up having to turn around and go home again which was a shame. But at least I tried.
So now I need to get back on the focus bandwagon and start preparing for my future more. I do think that being in limbo at work since October has really taken it's toll on me and that may be why I've felt so low and being on the spend binge. That makes the most sense to me. This weekend I spent some time thinking about my future and what "I" want rather than waiting to be told from this new company what they want for me. That brings me back to the cryptic side of things but I will reveal more information when I have something solid to reveal.
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and an even lovelier longer weekend away from work.

Hi MT
That Brighton journey sounds a real nightmare . A friend of mine and his other half , went to Cornwall for the weekend . Thoroughly miserable due to being overcrowded . It seems to be best to stay closer to home . Everybody and their dog are out when the sun is out
It's good to be able to decide what you want in the working environment . Studying hard could pay off for you in the long run
Good luck with it .0 -
Hello AC. You're definitely right about staying close to home on bank holiday weekends. I hopefully won't make that mistake again.0

It's Friday and I'm in the office today! Begrudgingly! We have a team meeting where announcements will be made so feel I should be here for that.
I've now been told that I will be working in the department I want to be in, so I'm really happy about that. Announcements will be made regarding our new departments at today's meeting. I'll be working closely with one other colleague from this "old setup" and he and I have a good working relationship so I'm happy to have the break from the historic drama along with the support of a good colleague.
Life in general needs to be fairly quiet for a while now too as I have a lot of planned events going on and also need time for my future plans with getting the house cleared and renovated or decorated. My neighbours still haven't sold their houses yet after being up for sale since the beginning of the year so I feel my personal timings are correct.
Another bank holiday weekend is here! It's meant to be the coldest on record, which is fine with me as I want an excuse to do more things at home. I hope it's a great one for all.

Where did the weekend go? I did have a pretty quiet weekend, other than visiting a friend who lives quite close to Brighton. I went against my gut instinct of travelling that way on a Bank Holiday weekend, but had checked the roads a few times before leaving and it turned out well. The traffic was bad coming back but my roads were fairly empty other than roadworks.
I did some more organising at home too, which felt good. I have so many personal plans and they're really starting to come together now and that's keeping me excited and motivated.
Financially I've managed to only spend on essentials. I needed petrol on Saturday and have bought shopping but no other frivolous spends. The good thing about organising everything you have is seeing how much stuff you buy that doesn't bring you joy! I really don't want to add to that anymore.
Having said that, I am considering buying a new TV. Mine has been unreliable for some time now so I'm wondering if I should get that spend out the way now I know my job is as safe as can be hoped for. I'll keep thinking about that for now.
Happy short week to everyone!

Now that I know my job is pretty safe and my part time hours will be accommodated, I need to focus on a better direction than I have been. With work and potential earnings up in the air it's been all encompassing but now I need to focus more on my life away from work.
I took on part time hours with lots of thoughts and hopes. I'll put those into plans and create actions on how to get on that path and move forward.
Focus for this week is to create that new direction!0
