Hi MT
Of course the card would've arrived ,if I rememberrd to post it ..:rotfl:
Hope the weekend was good , and productive .
Sun shining here ...0 -
Are we really at another new working week already? Time just flies by. My weekend was very productive though which made it a great one. I don't feel I "adult" very well, so decided I need to work on that which I think is why I was so much more productive.
Financially I'm looking forward to pay day next week. I can manage, but I don't even out the funds of my month and end up spending a little too freely at the beginning of the month and then have to pull in the purse strings for the rest of the month. Another part of adulting I'm not great at?
I have to work 4 days this week as we have a work event on Friday that I feel I should go to, but that does mean I only have to work 2 days next week, so that's not so bad. I can live with that
During my productive weekend I really did see my house for how it is and it's SO tired looking. So much to do! So I need to start getting quotes to get rooms decorated. A friend has offered to help and he's really good at decorating, but I'm not sure I should rely on a friend offering to help. I'll see when I'm ready to get things done. Lots of clearing out to be done first. I am excited to get that ball rolling.
I should probably start my work day now!

I've tied up my budget for February now, so no more spends for me! Although I did treat myself to a planner yesterday as a little birthday treat! I do have the cash for that though so I'll be putting that into my account tonight to cover that little spend.
Other than that all has been fairly quiet. I had a chat with the guys from the new place last week and they've recommended that I work with them more, so will be travelling to their offices at least once a week. That way I can also hear what they talk about regarding work that needs doing and I'm on hand to help out in the areas I want to. It's all above board too as we're all encouraged to work in both offices.
I was also asked to help out on a project and managed to get it all done very quickly. This was luck based on people being on holiday this week so we all made ourselves available last week to get things completed. They looked shocked when I said it was all done as they'd expected it to have just started.
Financially I need to reign things in further. I'm wasting too much on groceries and although last month was pretty much free based on using vouchers, I still find that I'm cleaning my fridge out from out of date items far too much. It's shameless really. So I'll work on that in March.
I can almost say I've started to adult better too! Yesterday I did some batch cooking, so I had a really good evening meal and have brought the extra portion in for my lunch today. It's Gnocchi and Mushroom with garlic, creme fraiche, goats cheese, dark greens and parsley. It was from my HelloFresh delivery. I didn't add the salt they state to add, and it was surprisingly lovely. I managed to eat a whole portion. Normally I'd eat half a portion and then snack! So lunch is also sorted and not an extra expense.
This weekend I want to defrost my fridge freezer so that I can start to batch cook and load my freezer with work lunches. My fridge is also over flowing due to bad organisation so it'll be good to get that sorted and cleaned too.
I'm only in the office for 2 days this week, but am busy again now, which is a bit of a relief. The manager of my team is still taking on admin roles though, and then having meetings with us all asking how to get those tasks done! It's frustrating, but working in the other office should help.
Yay to being the middle of the week! Gorgeous weather too! This time last year we had heavy snow, and now it's glorious with blue skies! Brightens the mood!

Howdy MT !
Interesting about the fridge side of things . I'm in the middle of doing something similar myself . I'm forever buying milk, but I'm not a milk drinker. Only for scrambled eggs ,and guests . So I have a couple of small plastic bottles to dispose of . I still have lots of room for my chocolate
You seem to be getting on with the new folk in your company. Great sign . In one of the companies I was working for in the millennium , there were similarities to yours. People were sizing me up , people were not liking this one and that . I actually got on well with all of the people I was supposed to , and it was one of my colleagues that they couldn't stand . I had to tread on eggshells at times not taking sides ,although they were right .
Is the other building close to the one you are in? Sounds like it is .
How's the house going ?
My flat is a sun trap . Ideal for a day like this .0 -
Hello AC. I didn't get around to defrosting as the weather seemed too warm and I need a bit of a chill in the air to keep my products ok while I clean. I'll try again this weekend.
The other building is 4 tube stops away and then a fair walk, so it doesn't feel close. That's putting me off because my journey is already 2 hours door to door, so this could add another 30 minutes each way. At least it's just 3 days a week otherwise it wouldn't be feasible.
The house is going ok. I'm anxious to be further forward than I am with the decorating though.0 -
I think I've set myself up for a bit of a tough month. I went out to get some new cleaning supplies for my home but hadn't made a budget for it. There are a few things like that! So, I'm already close to hitting budget amounts this month. One good thing is that I forgot I'd be getting some expenses back that could be added to the budget.
I also keep meaning to put things up for sale but the thought just feels me with dread, having to deal with all of the "extras" that come with it. Queuing at the post office doesn't feel me with joy either. But, it'll be more money to push me through the month so I really need to look at that again this weekend. Otherwise, I'll have a guess on how much it could generate and decide to just box it all up and take to the charity shop. That's probably a better option.
My Mum gave me some money for my birthday so I need to get to the bank and put that away too as I don't want that to be absorbed into day to day spends.
I received a letter at the weekend telling me that I can no longer use the Right of Way along the side of my house to get to the parking area at the end of my garage. I need to get a fence post put up within 28 days or they'll decide what further action to take. I've spoken to the freeholders and explained that I've always had use of that side area so they're going to get back to me in a few days to see what they can do! Stressful!
Work still seems up in the air but plodding forward which is the best I can hope for at this stage. We should be told our roles (or redundancies) by early May at the latest. So I'll see what options I'll receive when the time comes.
I'm shattered this week, and it's only Tuesday!

A lot going on MT no wonder you are shattered.
That is strange to suddenly remove right of way so unexpectedly with no consultation on anyone it may impact, I hope you find a solution.
Good luck with work too, we've just been through a restructure, waiting for close to a year I think before it was finally announced. I've opted for redundancy, I don't like the direction the company is going. It's not an easy journey but there's a certain relief when you are able to make the decision I hope it doesn't drag out too long for you.

Thanks bellevie. It's nice to hear from others who can relate. The freeholders of the land seem to have some old information as they mentioned it being given temporarily in the 1940's so I'm hoping they'll find proof of the payments I made for access. Also, there are 3 other cars that need to use that side area as there are 3 garages down there too. I'm just waiting to hear back now.
I keep mulling over redundancy but I think I could stay here doing a better role than I'm doing and remain part time, so that would be my best option I think.
Lovely to hear from you.

New mindset today on finances. I forgot that I'm currently putting a wad of money aside each month to pay off holidays for the year, so I've tallied that up and once paid I can continue to put that amount away for the house. So I'm feeling better about getting some things started on the house before the end of the year.
I'm also going to put my personal funds into a different account each month to stop this mindless spending again. Hopefully if I can see my specific personal funds budget reducing as fast as it currently does, it'll slow me down. Even if it is used for worthy things. It's a shame I can't use my Curve card for these as I hate carrying around lots of cards.
We've finally hit the hump this week! Yay to that!

Had a lovely evening with my friend last night. We went to a noodle bar and did a share plate of a few bits we like. He and I keep a running spreadsheet of who pays what, and as he's paid for a few holiday things I needed to pay. I've been scared to look at the spreadsheet as he's paid out a lot recently, so was happy to see that it's a low number. Phew!
I've also been organising things that I've left outstanding for a while. Just trips I'd promised with people that I hadn't gotten around to booking. Those are mostly all done now too. They were part of my budget as many were gifts so now I need to make sure I budget for spends on those days too.
It's my last day in the office until next week so I need to figure out what I'll do on those days. I haven't achieved much the past few weekends so need some sort of plan!
Let's see what today brings!0
