Got a reasonable chance then. I think your bigger problem is getting an appointment or getting your paperwork processed. They seem very behind currently.

Our fixed rate is up in September, so I did also consider increasing the term of the mortgage, so we're still paying it down but not by as much, and put the difference to debt repayments. We'd then decrease the term again once debts are paid/when we move. We've got a good few months to think about it.

Have you done a wallet workout on here to make sure you are paying the lowest you can on everything?

I don't think there's many areas we could save money but I'm sure it'd be worth putting some time aside to double check. I've got car insurance renewal coming up so will need to shop around for that. Maybe I'll put half a day aside to check everything else at the same time. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've cashed out £3.20 from TCB and am due £25 from 1poll. Relatively small amounts, but every little helps.

We've not got an awful lot done this weekend - a bit of pottering around the house, a frosty walk yesterday, and a small 0lio collection. I've eaten my weight in cake, chocolate and crisps today, despite not wanting much dinner. Apologies if this is TMI but my contraceptive implant is due to be changed and I think that's playing havoc with my hormones and my appetite. I must make an appointment to have it changed - if I can at the moment?

I'm still waiting for one more piece of kit (a flimsy bit of plastic that cost me £10!!) to be delivered before I can start making some sample items and properly advertise our new business venture. I have already started building a Fbook page though and an old colleague has been in touch to say she might be interested in stocking some of my creations. That's motivated me to think up some more ideas and I can't wait to get started now.

  • I rang and got an appointment at the hospital yesterday. I was seen within minutes of arriving and in & out within 15 minutes. Most efficient service I've ever had from them.

Deliveries have arrived so we're up and running making items now. We've sold 5 items so far but struggling to advertise the business (although I know it's early days). Will persevere with social media.

There's overtime available in my 'proper job'. It's a lot of work for not much money by the time I've been taxed and our UC claim is adjusted, but I'm swamped so will have to make an effort to put in some hours. I need to get the right balance though. Yesterday was my day off, but between making items for the business, advertising, a trip to the hospital, housework, DCs etc I was frazzled.

Eeeekkk I'm so excited... A local shop has just ordered 18 items to trial selling as an 'online exclusive'. Fingers crossed they sell well and will lead to more orders!

Fab news about the business. I think we are all keen at the moment to have some kind of side hustle in case our main job goes south... I'd love to understand why I have internet for browsing this - but my work network has kicked me off saying no internet. It makes no sense.

  • Snap...my work network has been a nightmare this week. IT have told me it's my internet connection, but I can get online, I just can't open documents. Doesn't make sense to me but it's driving me bananas! I've got so much to do and the potential for overtime but there's no point clocking in if I can't actually do any work. Grrr!

I've had orders for 7 more items come in this afternoon. I've done a really rough calculation and (after needing to buy more stock) we've nearly broken even on what it cost us to set up, so I'm really pleased with that. I'm super excited to have orders coming in, but also feeling a bit nervous about it all. I just hope my customers like their items.
