Hang in there, it all feels a bit bleak at the moment. Hope the lump checks out ok, brighter days will come x
  • I'm sorry to hear you are having a tough time. Hopefully you will get an answer about the lump soon.
  • Thanks for stopping by @v1ckyt and @DayDreamerandGeneralWaster

DH has potentially got some longer-term work coming up so that will make things easier. I say 'potentially' as they told him to expect a call yesterday with a start date, but he didn't get the call. He's still feeling confident about it though so fingers crossed he hears back on Monday.

I did the grocery shop this morning and made the mistake of letting DH come with me. I was hoping to spend no more than £35. It came to over £80!!! That did include 3 Xmas presents for the DCs though, and FIL has given me £20 for back for one of them and he will gift it to DC3. Even after taking that into account, I'm spent up on my budget for the month and have 8 days until my next budgeting month starts. We'll need milk, bread, and fresh fruit/veg as a minimum next weekend so I'll need to decide whether to use some more Tesco vouchers for this, or use the cash I made from selling items plus a little from savings.
  • Ahh that fatal mistake of letting the men come shopping. All of a sudden biscuits are essential 🙄

  • Oh I hear you on that one....my OH has to come shopping at the moment as his job is getting us a discount at the supermarket....but it means he puts more in my trolley and says "but it's got 10% off" 😆 its costing me more having him there with his discount lol

Hope your health tests come back clear. It is a worrying time for everyone - but it must be really hard with your husband's income being so uncertain too. Hugs

  • DH finally got the phone call he was waiting for and started a new job this week. It's a 'relief' position, but should be a minimum 3 days a week (which is enough to pay the bills) and extra days to cover sickness/holidays etc. It also means the house is empty a few days a week, so we should save on heating, and stop snacks disappearing from the food cupboards too. And, we should qualify for some free childcare from January (as long as he averages more than 16 hours a week) so that will save us around £180 a month. I'm feeling quite hopeful that things are starting to look up.

that's good news on a lot of fronts - a bit of piece and quiet maybe top of the list

I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
  • It was DC3s birthday today. Just the 2 of us home for a lot of the day so it's been a quiet one, but with chocolate for breakfast, a trip to the park, a dinosaur cake, and new toys, we have a happy 3 year old.

I'm starting to feel really annoyed with my in laws though. They dote on DCs 1 & 2 but apparently can't be bothered with DC3. They were supposed to be coming over today & I'd bought some party nibbles to do a little buffet, but DH phoned MIL to check what time they were coming and she 'wouldn't be good company today'. I'm annoyed that they hadn't thought to tell me they weren't coming since I'd got food in, but more so he's not even had a card or a phone call to wish him happy birthday. I've had to hold myself back from commenting about it on Fbook but am really feeling cross with them.

There's been mention of us going to their house for Christmas, but if DC3 is going to be left out again then I really don't want to. I think for now I'm going to plan to celebrate it at home.
