looks like a good plan - don't try and do it all at once - give yourself some space to get over your wobble
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

  • WelshKitty I'm so sad to see you suffereing. The panic attacks and light-headedness sound so familiar to me.

Please take it easy, get lots of sleep, eat lots of veg, drink lots of water, get outside every day and breath.

You are wonderful, you can do this.

Starmummy, I'm sorry it's so familiar to you, but thank you for the advice. Today has actually been a good day. Work has been so busy that I just haven't had time to feel anxious. I love busy days as the time just flies. I went for a walk through town and around the shops at lunch time, but didn't spend anything. i went to b00ts after work and spent about £25 on clothes for DC3 and 6 gifts to put away. I wasn't going to bother, but £3.90 for 2 pairs of trousers that DC3 needs was a bargain, and I only bought gift sets that I know will get used and will save me money in the long run. I forgot my iron this morning, but posting here has just reminded me to take it with a glass of water.

Today has been a spendy day. It did cross my mind not to admit to it on here, but what's the point in keeping a diary if I'm not completely honest? So here goes...I updated my income with tax credits last week and have had an additional payment of £167. We went to a local garden centre today planning to spend around £10 on bedding plants, but spotted they had the very dining table I've had my eye on for the last 14 months. It was £300, reduced to £199, but I got an extra £30 off bringing it down to £169. Now I know that money could have gone to debt repayments but our existing dining table is completely the wrong shape and size for the room and nobody can get in or out without asking other people to move, so this will make a huge difference to the room. I've already had some interest in the old table and am hoping to get £50 back for that.

My head's been a bit fuzzy today. I'm not sure if it's anxiety, caffeine withdrawal (I have been seriously drinking too much coffee), or a combination of both. I think it did us all good to get out of the house for a while though, despite the damage to our finances. We also visited family whilst out which was a nice change of scenery. I was glad of my previous batch cooking when we got home and threw a lasagne straight into the oven. I only remembered whilst eating it that I'd put loads of hidden veg into the sauce, so that should be a nice boost to all our immune systems.

  • Working in a different town to usual today (with more shops!) I went for a walk at lunchtime armed with a shopping list - a baby gate, clothes for DC3, garden plants, and a few sale items. Thrilled to say I talked myself out of every single one of them and my purse stayed firmly closed (apart from paying £50 cash into the bank from selling the old table). I might still buy a baby gate as DC3 is driving me bananas climbing the stairs, and I've seen them reduced to £10, but I'll have a think first. Some mild anxiety whilst queuing in the bank but overall not a bad day.

Standing in a bank with cash in hand is a challemge - you're never quite sure you are going to see it back again :-). I rarely pay in cash although equally I rarely have more than 2 notes on me (usually blue ones)

  • Our local Mr T's had a baby promotion which included baby gates. Not sure how much, but sometimes these baby care promotions can be good value.

Thanks, that's where I saw them for £10. I checked the local selling sites but they were at least £12 for a used one, so I think £10 is a bargain.

Only a challenge when the cashier sighs and rolls eyes when you want to pay in bags of coins.............last time that happened I asked when the bank had stopped handling money....got an apology:p

I cut back on using debit card a few years ago and now only use cash when food shopping - set amount and no more so if there is no money left in budget it doesn't get bought....have saved a lot this way. Also I now have a number of "change" pots which quickly fill up, hence bags of money at bank. When pots are full I use these to pay against CC bill. Its been quite a revelation - literally seeing where the pennies go:D
Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi :o
