That's great that you make your own lunchbox food.... I'm very lazy and uninspired with what I put in my kids'; the usual sandwich, frube, babybel, kipling cake kind of thing. Might try and be a bit more adventurous!DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Thank you both.
I find it so much cheaper making lunch box food and I can use up leftovers (like the pizza dough) so it reduces waste too.
I've been quiet for a few days as I've been absolutely exhausted but I think I'm finally getting over the lurgy. On the plus side I've not been spending money as I've been too tired to do so! It was my day off today and I was supposed to go shopping first thing, but DH got the children up and to school without me even noticing. I managed the weekly shop this evening though. Spent around £50 including some ys bargains (turkey, chicken pieces, mince etc) for the freezer.
I've been reading about some people prepping for brexit. I'm definitely not going to get into a panic, but have decided to set up a small stock cupboard "just in case". So my shop also included some extra pasta, rice, noodles and a few tins. I'm going to add a few items each week and if it's not needed following brexit then it will be there to fall back on for any weeks that money is extra tight.
We've had more problems with the builder but after an awful argument today he's agreed to complete the work tomorrow. It's just so frustrating that he doesn't see he's doing anything wrong by failing to turn up 7 times. Then today he had the cheek to ask for more money before he comes back to finish. You can probably guess my response!!
Bed time for me...but I'm going to quickly prep lunches and bags ready for the morning.0 -
Well the builder hasn't finished but he at least turned up and did some work today. There's a few hours work left and I'll be glad not to have to deal with him again.
Today has been a NSD and I have made another sale - about £14 after postage and fees. I'm currently looking to switch my gas and electric supplier but can't believe how much prices have increased in the space of a year. Car insurance is due next month too so am looking for the best deal I can get for that as well.0 -
A quick post before bed to report a NSD, 2 more small sales, and a delicious meal with my 86p ys chicken (and some leftovers for the freezer).0

Late posting but we had a nice cheap weekend. Local theatre had a free event which we all went to on Saturday. Made a small £5 spend on some educational resources for DC2 (got 98p knocked off as I only had £5 cash and he didn't want to load up the card machone). DC2 was playing football on Sunday so I dropped DC1 back at the theatre event and got some jobs done whilst they were out. The building work is finally finished and after another dispute with the builder he knocked £100 off the price.
I was off today as DC3 had a hospital appointment. They confirmed 2 allergies and are querying a few others too. They are also treating him for chest problems and eczema. I hear a lot of people complain about the NHS but I can't fault the service they've given my little man.
Back to work tomorrow. I made a bolognaise tonight and prepped a lasagne for tomorrow at the same time. Just need to throw something together for a packed lunch before I go to bed.0 -
Mid month progress report
My targets for the month were:
1. Declutter the mountain of clothes on my bedroom floor & list for sale/charity shop/bin
2. Sort DC3s clothes - sell/charity/bin any that are too small
3. Declutter DC3s toy box - sell/charity/bin
4. Reduce debt to below £25,000
So far I have achieved:
1. Reduced the mountain to a single carrier bag. Items are selling slowly and I've currently got around £35 in PayPal.
2. Sorted DC3s clothes into sizes, but not listed for sale yet. Must do this ASAP!
3. Sorted and tidied DC3s toy box. Listed a few items for sale but none sold yet.
4. Minimum payments have gone out and debt is currently around £25,138. I need to find another £100+ on top of my PayPal funds to get below my target.
I'm fairly happy with my progress so far. I have got £50 set aside in a savings account to start repaying my dad (I've paid £50 back so far). I think I will get this transferred to him 1. to make me feel a bit better about borrowing from him and 2. it will bring me £50 closer to my target and make it seem a bit more manageable. I have a bit more motivation to get things listed for sale now that my items are starting to sell (even if 1 has been listed for a whole year!).0 -
I'm hoping I've not made a mistake by paying off too much too soon, but I've changed my plans slightly because of the interest being charged on the M&S card. My totals are now:
M&S CC - £990.72
Barclaycard - £8997.07
Hitachi - £9773.53
MBNA - £3618.42
Family - £1600
Grand total = £24,979.74
I've wiped out my savings pots though and only have £165 left towards my car insurance next month - my cheapest quote so far is £197. So I really need to focus on getting some more sales, making at least another £30 towards my car insurance, and starting up my other savings pots again.
For now I'm just happy with the fact my debt is back below £25,000 :j0 -
Feeling tired today! DC3 woke at 2.30 this morning . He kept dropping off then waking himself up again. By 3.30am I gave up and got up to give him some milk. He's been a little monster all day too, really grumpy and crying at everything. I'm hoping he's tired himself out and will sleep better tonight.
I managed to photograph the last bag of clothes on my bedroom floor and got them listed on eBay. I've made a £4 sale already. I need to photograph and list DC3s old clothes and then have a think about what else needs to go.
My car insurance quotes have gone up £10 since I last checked  and I still haven't switched my gas and electric supplier. Will hopefully make time to look at these after DC2s football match tomorrow.0
