  • I should have learned that lesson last week with the 75p matchmakers really :rotfl::rotfl:
  • My memory is terrible at the moment! I also forgot to mention:

DH has been wanting a cordless vacuum for a while. Today we have been gifted a "broken" one that an "expert" had looked at and said it needed a new charger. DH pulled the charger out of the dock, plugged it straight into the vacuum and it charged and worked perfectly!

I was also gifted a box of tea bags and my favourite cherry drink from my lovely mother.

All DDs have gone out for the month. My totals are now looking like this:

    Description....................Debt......Monthly.. .APR

    Debt total = £27,572.40

    ETA: Savings total = £414.17
  • You're making great progress, well done!
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • It's funny now that we have money in savings I don't want to spend it on the things we are saving for! We "need" a blind for the dining room window (the neighbours house looks straight in at our dining table) but I'm putting off getting the window measured as I don't want my savings balance to go down. Previously I'd have paid for it on the credit card and worried about finding the money later. How times have changed :).

I've not had any PA surveys for ages so have cashed out the £7 that way as in there and am putting a bit more effort into SB, although it's probably my least favourite of them all.
  • You are doing so well WelshKitty.

I'm glad you are enjoying going back to work. It's so important to go to a job you like after maternity leave it makes the transition so much easier.
And yay for the pay rise.
    debt consolidated 16/8/18 £9,788.01/£12,618.12 :( (Total debt at LBM 1st Jan '18 c..£19.5k)
    EF/FIT savings £97.24 Other Savings £12.17 House Deposit £4,762.64/£20,000 23.8% :D
  • Brrr...it's cold here today. Our garden furniture has taken off, and our shed was almost in next doors garden, so we've tried to secure everything as best we can. Stew, dumplings, and hm bread prepped ready for tonight. Heating is staying off though for the time being.
  • We've finally had a response from the cc company regarding the car. It's all resolved and my favourite charity will be getting a surprise donation :j :j

I've had to sign a confidentiality clause so can't say anymore, but I'm so happy I'm close to tears.
  • In other news I've had a good day all round.

I opened a PayPal claim a long time ago for an item that was not as described. PayPal closed the case saying I didn't respond to their request for information (but I did). Today I received an email saying the have reviewed the case and realise i did respond. They have refunded me in full to the value of £70.95, even though at the time I only requested a partial refund. I have transferred it straight to savings and have almost £500 now in that account.

DH has been doing some work for a local butcher who supply a big supermarket. They do amazing sausages and burgers, but usually at least £3 a pack. They have some excess stock and offered DH his pick of the freezer for £1 a pack. He's come home with 6 packs of burgers and 6 packs of sausages, so our freezer is well stocked!

As well as our community orchard, we have an "incredible edible" scheme where volunteers plant various fruit and veg around the town and it's free to anybody to pick. They posted online to say there was a box of veg ready picked outside the church, ready to be collected. DD went and picked up some tomatoes, potatoes, chillis and cucumbers (only a few of each, leaving some for other people). I have made up a batch of chilli and tomato pasta for lunches, and need to think of an idea to use the cucumber.

Back in work tomorrow, so I have packed the changing bag ready, got clothes ready, packed lunches ready.
