  • It's good that you can do a phased return and allow yourself and your DC time to adjust. When I went back it was straight into normal hours which was a shock to the system! Well done on getting all that cooking done for the freezer - great forward planning.

  • Thank you. I was fortunate to be in a position where I had "too much" leave banked and it needs to be used so I've been able to extend my mat leave by 3 weeks and use it for a phased return.

Ive been really grateful for the batch cooking this week, it's been a relief o just thrown a lasagne into the oven and not have to worry about cooking from scratch.

  • I have to make a confession...

I've been on a bit of a shopping spree . Everything I bought was needed - 2 dresses for work, 3 winter jumpers, flat boots for the winter, winter pjs for the kiddies, matching tshirts for DC2 & DC3 (ok these weren't needed but sooo cute and will be put away for Christmas, as will the PJs). It came to a grand total of £83, which I think is reasonable for what I got, and the extra in my wages covers it. I've also got a few bits lying around to sell so need to get on with the decluttering to bring some extra pennies back in.

I also bought a new high chair for DC3 but only £9.99 and I should be able to sell his old one for at least £10 - I just hate it as it has loads of little places for bits of food to get stuck and it's horrible to clean.

Oh, and whilst confessing...we also had a takeaway last night . It would have been completely worth the £20 it cost had DC3 not thrown up straight into my tray of chips   . Poor little man has a bug and has been ill in the night too, but I was devastated! Thankfully he was nowhere near the pizza and we have half left over to be reheated today.

Now those spends are out of my system I'm back on the money saving wagon - I promise!

  • I forgot to buy a chicken for todays roast dinner when I did the weekly shop :(.

So today's plan was to nip to t3sco for a chicken and pick up the 2 for £7 chocolates for Christmas and bread for DHs packed lunch too. However, DH & DC2 had gone out to a car show, DC1 was with grandparents, and I was home with DC3 who has been an absolute horror since being ill. So, whilst he finally went down for a nap I decided to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea in peace instead. Dug some gammon out of the freezer, which was actually a really nice change from chicken, and have raided the cupboards to sort a packed lunch for DH tomorrow. Oh, and there's probably no chance that the chocs would have lasted until Christmas anyway :rotfl:.
  • Almost forgot...I've also made a further £10 loan overpayment :j
