Hope you had a decent night last night, horrible when you're ill. I've been under the weather recently and it's still linger - very dull.
Well done on the surveys - one MS thing I have never got into!Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.0 -
Thank you both. I think I managed about 6 hours sleep last night so I feel much more human today and I stayed awake in work :j.
Day off tomorrow so I have some batch cooking planned and I need to prep DC3s lunch box items ready for starting with the childminder on Thursday. I'm thinking about savoury muffins, cheese, crackers and fruit, but open to other ideas?? He is allergic to peanuts and eggs but not when they are an ingredient in cakes etc.0 -
Glad you're feeling a bit better. Our homemade lunchbox staples at the moment are pizza whirls, pea fritters, savoury muffins, quiche (not such a hit, but tolerated) and leftover warm food in a thermos food flask (always the favourite).Trying to figure out a whole new life. Great ideas thank you. I love the sound of pea fritters and will definitely make a quiche for DD and I (no chance the boys would eat it!). Ive got pizza muffins in the oven already.
I made a huge bolognaise last night (despite DHs request for a chippy tea) so I've just made up 2 lasagnes for the freezer and frozen 2 portions of bolognaise.0 -
Where has my day off gone??
Finished baking the savoury muffins and also cooked a huge pot of curry (some for tonight and loads left for the freezer), naan breads, lemon tarts, blackberry bakewells and quiche. DC2 actually surprised me saying he likes quiche and will take some in his packed lunch.
This evening we have been to a high school open evening for DC2. He will start the transition to high school after Christmas, 1 morning a week at first, then a 5 week intensive. Can not believe I will have 2 children in high school!!
DC3 starts with the childminder tomorrow. I not sure I'm emotionally prepared. I've made his packed lunch but am worrying it won't be enough, worrying he will need more bottles than usual, worrying about his allergies. I'm sure he'll be fine, but not so sure I will be!0 -
Well DC3 certainly knows how to make me feel like the worst Mum in the world
. He broke his little heart when I left him with the childminder, after digging his nails into my shoulder desperate not to let go of me
. I'm told he's had a lovely day though, made some new friends, ate all of his lunch and had a good nap. Back at home, he keeps crying every time I go out of sight. Please somebody tell me this will get easier?
I've had an initial response from one of my PPI claims and it looks like I'll get about £50. Every little helps and I've still got 1 more to hear back from.
I had a bit of a mini meltdown earlier over the state of my wardrobe. It's completely overflowing but I've got "nothing to wear". Some (a lot!) of my clothes are older than DD (she's 12 ) and nothing fits right or suits my shape since having DC3. Ive got plenty of fancy dresses and a fair amount of work wear (although I was feeling really self conscious in work today) but not much everyday wear. DH has instructed me to get rid of (sell/charity shop) the majority of my clothes and he is taking me shopping for my birthday. He says he's put £300 aside from his wages but I'd really rather spend less than this and put the rest to debt repayments. So I'm going to try to make a list of essentials and stick to it.0 -
DC3 had the best night sleep last night and woke at 6.45 today :j. We had tears again at the childminders this morning, although maybe not quite as bad as yesterday. Childminder text early afternoon to say he was unwell, but she asked if she could give medicine and managed to get him to nap, so I was able to stay in work.
DC2 was also feeling unwell after school and didn't want to do sports tonight, which meant I was home at a reasonable time for a change. Both seem a lot better after some cuddles. Being home early also meant DHs excuse for a takeaway went out of the window :rotfl: and we had the batch cooked quiche instead.

DC3 slept until 7.45 this morning :j and was in a lovely mood when he woke up. Playing and making friends all day at the childminders must be tiring!
Today I finally got round to planting some of my spring bulbs. It was hard work though as I kept hitting bricks and slate (apparently when the houses were built, the builders were paid by the pallet load of bricks that they got through, so quite a few found their way into the gardens ). Still over half to go though! I also did a bit of tidying up in my veg patch and realised I have literally hundreds of sprouts almost ready to be picked! Luckily we all like sprouts in this house.
I've done some more surveys today and have enough SB points for a £5 voucher but think I will hold on until I can get another £10 voucher. Then I will only have to put down an extra £1.99 for the brushed cotton bedding I want.
Tomorrow will be a busy day so I'm finishing a hot chocolate then heading straight to bed.0 -
I've just paid £5.01 off the cc to tidy up my total owed to £23,370.
Also changed my payment date so the dd will go out earlier in the month and I can see the balance coming down sooner.
