Hi Newby here.
My son is about to start uni in September, I have heard of a bank account for hIm that i can control by monitoring it and then drip feeding money to him every week/month, is anyone else aware of such a thing, ist it any good?

TIA

Sounds like any bank account to me. However, assuming he's an adult you should keep out of his financial affairs and let him stand on his own 2 feet, or fall.

You can use any bank account if he is prepared to allow you third party access.

Al very well helping him budget, but he really should be learning to manage his own money.

The monitoring feature I'm aware of is for under 18s on prepaid debit cards like on this link https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/cards-for-under-18s/
If your son is starting Uni this year he is probably already, or very soon to be, 18yrs old anyway.

He is able to do this with his own student/standard accounts by having money paid into one but using the other for day to day living.

Eg - Student finance/other income into student account, divide by weeks before next credit for SF >> standing order to everyday account weekly.

Have a chat to him, you can't force him but you can give him guidance.
