Hilarious finding about Audi drivers
Comments

.. it's not a case of Audi drivers are !!!!!!!!s - but that !!!!!!!!s are attracted to Audis. Or possibly they will start to move on in the same way that they moved on from BMW once they cottoned on to the public perception.
Yes - buying a premium brand anything when you can't really afford the payments is stupid but there are people who place more emphasis on the image they think it portrays than the practicalities. Buying a premium brand because you enjoy the drive, the comfort, the toys etc and you can reasonably afford it - it's your money. Same as buying a premium wine, coffee, olive oil or whatever. The Aldi/Lidl version probably does the same job for half the price and if you can't Taste the Difference then don't pay extra for it.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Did Audi ever fix the problem with the indicators not working?0

What a crap analogy. No offence. You're not even remotely comparing like with like. I am not a wine connoisseur, so if you gave me a bottle of £100 red and a £3.99 bottle from Lidl..... there is zero chance I could tell the difference... it's not a case of Audi drivers are !!!!!!!!s - but that !!!!!!!!s are attracted to Audis. You don't NEED to be a car connoisseur to feel the difference between a terrible car and a nice one though. Just go sit in a bloody Alfa 157 then sit in a Fiat Punto. Everything in the Alfa will be nicer.... the seats, the materials, the drive, the ride, the whole experience will be much improved and unlike your naff wine analogy, you don't need to be an experienced car veteran to know the difference.
I know the difference between a Dacia and a Ford. I know the difference between a Ford and a VW. I know the difference between a VW and an Audi/BMW. Those differences aren't granular..... they are immediately evident when you get in the vehicle. Unless you have driven one car all your life, you will know that some cars are just nicer inside (and out) than others. You don't need to be Jeremy Clarkson to know that.Did Audi ever fix the problem with the indicators not working?
Where has this bloody myth about Audi indicators come from? I keep hearing it mentioned on here, yet I've never met anyone who has actually mentioned this issue to me. My own Audi never had this problem. I've seen indicator stalks fail on old VW's but it's usually because 20 years worth of crap builds up under the stalk and adds resistance to the contacts..... that could happen to ANY car with age.... I suspect the reason you don't see it on old Ford's is they have all rusted away prematurely. Whoops.0 -

Hilarious. I never thought anyone would not get that.0 -
Spectacularly missing the point.... I'm not comparing a £3 bottle with a £100 bottle but a £4 bottle with a £12 bottle... If all you want is an Italian red to wash down some pasta then as long as it meets the minimum standard most people can't tell the difference. If you want the bottle on the table to impress the rich in-laws then you'd better go to Waitrose.I am not a wine connoisseur, so if you gave me a bottle of £100 red and a £3.99 bottle from Lidl..... there is zero chance I could tell the difference.
Yes - there's a difference between a Dacia and a Golf - but for some people it will only be the comfort that matters. not the drive. if nearly all the driving is round town and shopping and school runs they'll go cheap and cheerful. There's a difference between a Focus and a Golf and an Astra and Mazda 3 - but for many people that's indistinguishable or less important than the price or indeed the proximity of the dealer. For other people there may be an over-riding factor like driving position (my parents are 5'3" and 6'2" so seat adjustability was key for them). There's a difference between a Golf and an Audi A3 - but how much of that is in the spec and how much in the image? (Which in turn could be reflected in resale value - which matters to some people).
It's the same further up the chain.... Some years ago, I went on a Jaguar driving day at Gaydon. I got to drive the first series XF as both 3 litre S and 5 litre R back to back and I could only tell the difference on the track with an instructor to tell me where the braking points etc. were. On my own, I wouldn't have known. In any normal road use that I would ever have put it to; they would have been interchangeable apart from engine note at startup.
(I didn't buy one BTW - I couldn't afford it anyway but I'd been to look at X-types and the dealer offered me a day out.)I need to think of something new here...0 -

All of that is fine..... If someone wants a Dacia to pick their kids up from school or do the shopping runs, that's absolutely fine. Ideal in fact. What I have a problem with is the reverse snobbery that has become apparent on this forum. If someone wants to do the school run in a Dacia, that's fine. If they want to do it in a 1 series, that's also fine.0 -
Agreed - there are a few posters who assume that everyone who buys a premium (or better than adequate) vehicle is doing it as a form of showing-off. Some are and some of those have got very odd priorities if they are taking on debt they can't handle. Others are paying for what they see as a premium product - even if the pemiumness is not totally objective. What I have a problem with is the reverse snobbery that has become apparent on this forum.I need to think of something new here...0 -
I think it's the only way the average Joe can show off. Get a flashy car on finance to overcome status anxiety. Worse still drive it like a teewat.
I used to fly corporate helicopters on my days off from flying big airline planes. I was always amazed to land at very wealthy sprawling mansions and the owners had very unassuming cars. Total waste of money was a common comment. Often an old high mileage merc e-class type car in the drive.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0 -

Actually I did get a very nice 2 lt bottle of apple cider from lydl for 3.99 last Monday. It was real apple cider slowly fermented at 7% and the next day I found a few beer flies in the store room the real conniseurs of fine wines so o had to move the cider:

Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -

I drive in and around Wilmslow where some of the mansions have McLaren's parked on the drive. Yes, some wealthy people want to drive around in a second hand Mondeo, but most do enjoy a bit more refinement. Worth noting by the way, the vehicle you mention is a luxury vehicle.... hence a point I've made all along.0
