It's been a little while since I've updated.

My mum is doing okay. She is starting to remember some stuff and has more scans this month. I've been going there to help when I can.

DS has been really struggling, he has had us pretty worried. His anxiety has been through the roof. He has been going to meetings for a while about it but it's very much as and when they can fit him in. A lot of the doctors have left and they are overrun with not enough time in the day to help everyone. He worries about school and then worries because he's missing school because of the meetings. He also had nearly a whole years worth of Business coursework deleted when the school computers crashed, which has put him in a panic. Sadly, it seems that the NHS has plenty of teenagers in similar situations and while he is not their priority, he surely is our number 1. The doctor in charge of his case hasn't even met him. So, we have booked him in for private counselling. We hope that having someone consistent will help him more. It starts next week and will be £45 a week. Which is going to make things pretty tight around here, but we'd pay anything if it in anyway helps him learn to cope more. They are also after school so won't be having any extra time off. He will still carry on with the ones he's been going too, as they are doing the testing for Aspergers, although we have been told we may be in for quite a wait to hear back about it, as so many doctors have left.

Everything from the last few weeks then got all a bit much for me too. Ended up having a pretty spectacular meltdown at work. They have been great, I am very lucky to work for the people I do and I know they care for my whole family so they are aware what's been going on. Have had a bit off time off but need to get back on it now as sitting at home isn't helping the situation.

Money news. Budgets are real tight this month. DPD pots are at £80/£80 and £103/£352 but not going to concentrate on this as much this month. We have the weekend out planned with my brother and family for his birthday, but have money in the savings to sort that, hoping not to have to dip in the savings for anything else though. The rest of the half term will just be local and free or cheap. Put our weekly money down to £10 instead of £20 to cover some of the costs. Renewed my family and friends train pass, used clubcard points so didn't cost anything. Council tax started again for the year, gone up to £171  £9 increase from last year!

Had a lovely mother's day. DD had £1.50 in her money box and said she wanted to buy my present, she chose a nice speckled glass tealight holder and was very pleased that she had bought it herself. She also made me 5 cards! DS wrote me a wonderful letter and gave me some daffodils, my favourite. We all went to watch Dumbo at the cinema, really enjoyed that.

Wow, that was a long update. Hope everyone is well.

It's lovely to hear from you Robin. What an incredibly emotional time you are going through.

I attended some counselling last year to help me deal with my anxiety and it was the best money I have spent. So I do hope it has the same imp[act on your DS.

Mother's day sounds lovely. It really is the little simple things that make it all worth it.

Make sure you have someone looking after you too darling.xxx

I didn't want to read and run - this book is very useful so thought I'd share - my daughter (a dyslexic non-lover-of-reading) loved it

Thank you to you all! I really appreciate it. We are hopeful that private sessions will help DS more as they will be weekly sessions so more consistent than he's been getting. Really hoping it helps anyway. Working mum, I read the preview of that book and have ordered it, I think that will be something he can relate too, thankyou for the suggestion.

Glad it is the holidays, DC need the rest. DD had her Easter bonnet parade yesterday which she enjoyed. She also had a fabulous end of term report and got 100% on her end of term spelling test and went up another reading level :T.

DH sold some bits yesterday and made £60. Think we are going to use it to start a laptop fund, DS could do with one for going into year 11. He was also offered £185 for another item but we are really unsure if we want to sell it. It is a hard one as it was a gift but has just sat in the box for years. We are also very unlikely to ever own one again. As we are unsure, we have turned the offer down for now.

Not got much planned today. DH and DS are still in bed. I've been up with DD a while and have had breakfast and she's happy doing her colouring. She has an awful cough :( will probably get out in the garden to do some bits as it's finally dry again.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Finally had my dentist appointment today. Was shocked that I didn't actually need any work doing. Since being pregnant with DD my teeth have been nothing but trouble. So £25.10 for check up and some floss.

Went to see best friend after and took them to the doctors for her DD's appointment and then we took them to the library, had to pay another 80p fine :o stayed there for lunch and then popped to the chemist on the way home to pick up my prescription and picked up some Piriton for DD.

Had a dispatch email for a book I completely forgot I had preordered for DD, so another £6.49 gone out of the bank. Also, ordered DS some bits for his birthday next month, so another £26. So ended up being a quite a spendy day.

DD's front tooth fell out yesterday, so £1 for the tooth fairy too. Couldn't find it anywhere this morning, after stripping her bed we found it wedged between the mattress and bed frame :rotfl:

DS spent his day at school! Seems he has plans to be there most days in the holidays for rehearsals for the school production.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about your mum's mini stroke Robin, how very worrying for you. I'm glad she's starting to remember a bit more now. Hopefully she'll continue to improve.

I'm sorry to hear about DS's anxiety. A lot of teenagers do suffer from anxiety, it seems to be a modern plague, but that doesn't make it any easier for the sufferer or their family. My three DC have all suffered from anxiety in the past, but are much improved now. I think the private counselling is a good idea. Does DS feel that it's helping him?
