Hey all, checking into this challenge as I'm doing the 1% challenge and struggling. I want to make just over £1800 extra by Christmas so, when added to my monthly debt repayments, I am debt free by Christmas.

I'm technically in 'August' due to how my pay and I budget.

I've sold around £650 of my belongings so far this year and am now running low on easier to sell, higher money items... I've made £53.04 So far this month from webuybooks and now loosing a bit of motivation. I've cleared another draw, just odd unused cards which I will picture and put on ebay for a few pounds.

I've signed up to a lot of survey sites, but places like prolific are not accepting new applicants at this time. I'm going to have another hunt on this tonight.

I'm debating signing up to the receipt scanning apps. Are there any top recommendations?

Hello and welcome to the thread. Good luck with your debt repayments and well done on your sales up to now. :T

With regard to the receipt/shopping apps I use lots of them but am inconsistent/forgetful/disorganised :rotfl: so probably don’t make the most of them!

These are the ones I can think of

Shopmium - money back on specific items in different retailers paid straight to PayPal no minimum
Checkoutsmart- as above - lots of offers - payments under £20 incur fees
TopCashback- as above - only a few offers - quickly confirmed to your account
Quidco click snap - as above but can’t use if you use CheckoutSmrt as same people
Greenjinn- - as above but only Tesco Sainsbury and Waitrose - request payment from £1.50 to bank or PayPal

Shoppix - rewards for uploading receipts - PayPal or vouchers from £5
Snap my eats - as above - not used yet so no comment
Receipt hog - as above - slow earner
Shoprize - as above (android only) not used myself yet but heard that it is good

Think that is it - can anyone else add to the list or add comments on the above?

My favourite is definitely shopmium as it has quite a lot of ‘try me free’ offers and an excellent referral scheme. I have had over £140 in cashback from them since April 2016 but that has been helped massively by referrals from mse as I started the referral thread and lots of lovely people have used my code :T

    Hope that helps xx

Bulb have been great for us, so easy to deal with too. besides, I prefer giving my hard-earned pennies to smaller companies when I can.

Just cashed out £5.03 from Qmee so that helps a bit towards the target. Hopefully will manage another swagbucks voucher before the end of the month.

No extra payments yet, but I've had an email from music magpie to say they';ve received my package so I'm hoping to squeeze that payment in for the end of the month.

A rainy day here and all my jobs are done so I've got time to do a bit of money making research and maybe try and get some sureveys etc done...or I may just read...lol

We joined bulb last year, I agree about helping smaller companies and their green ethos too - very impressed, they did say their prices are going up in August but not too much I hope!

I had a clear out of books and DVDS and I've got orders with Music Magpie, Ziffit and Zapper en route. there's always the odd thing they reject but hopefully most of it will go through!

Great thread, I'd love to join in (a bit late in the month I guess!) I've made 60p comparing pet insurance so far today :)

Welcome to the thread Hopeless Case. :D

  • Thanks - my first question is when do people count cashback, at the point it tracks or when it hits your bank account? Or is it up to you?

Also can you count loyalty card points, and again, do you count them at the time you do the shop and see them on your receipt?

    Thanks :)

I dont count things until they are in my bank account.

With loyalty points, again I dont count them till I actually use them.

I DO count money off supermarket shops which reminds me.....I used a £9 off £60 spend at sainsburys yesterday. :D

Anyone any good with paypal? I went to withdraw my earnings from there yesterday and the bit showing in pounds went straight through.

The bits I have earnt in dollars is still in there and despite me changing currency to pounds, when I try to cash out, its asking me to add a bank account. Dont get it.

Welcome to the thread Hopeless Case. I only count my cashback when it hits my bank account. I find it easier to keep count that way.
    Jan £10 a day £326.75/£310
  • Thanks - I guess that means I'll have a bit of a slow start as I've only really started to use loyalty cards and cashback again, so it'll be a while until it starts to trickle through, but I do like a challenge :D
