BT price increases September 2018

My first bad experience of BT - have been with them over 2 years, and always negotiated a good deal in the face of any price increase. Last December managed to negotiate BT Sport + HD package with them free for a year and £28.99 line rental for 18 months with fibre 1 and phone.
Found out by pure chance last week i got charged the BT Sport price over the past four months. Got that credited back last week.
Today I decide to call them out of chance to see if I will still get BT Sport for the remainder of the year, and find out 'no' despite during the crediting last week, I was told that I would! And by pure chance I ask if I'm due a price increase even though I didnt get an email. The first operator told me yes, and i can still cancel or renegotiate until Friday. I decide to call again later, got a different operator, and got told today is the last day!!!
No one seems to be consistent. I have looked for the email in my mailbox, and its not there, or in trash folder.
What a farce. At the moment tempted to just suck up the extra £2 per month , as Im getting a good deal on my BT Mobile Sim only as well.0 -
Thanks all. I managed to get £21.99 on both lines for line rental and BT Infinity 1. Helps if you quote the current TalkTalk offers listed on MSE as a comparision and are prepared to move your line!
thats a good offer. I was happy to accept £24.99 finally, after a lot of faffing around calling numerous times.0 -
Left it to the last minute to check my options.
I'm on FTTP only (no copper) so options very limited.
Got told I am already on the best deal, the old 300/30 Superfast Fibre 4 - going up to £62.49 and then a whopping £78.49 next summer (although pretty sure I would get a better deal than that).
When I mentioned that their current offer of the newly renamed Ultrafast Fibre 2 (and now its 330/50) is only £54.99 I was told they could not match their own offer!?! Best he could do he said was the Ultrafast Fibre 1 (150/20) at the full price of £59.99.
Also mentioned I can't justify their terrible TV service just for the one 4K footy match I might get a chance to watch a week - don't get me wrong, I love the 4K footy, but £20 a month just for that? Was told I could save £8 by getting rid of everything and keeping the BT Sport NON 4K service! Surely the TV contract is separate even though I bought them at the same time and this could be cancelled independant of the fibre/phone.
So much for "finding out my options" that the letter says - or from their website about the price increase:
"What if I'm unhappy with the price changes?
We're sorry that you're unhappy about how the price changes affect you.
Get in touch - we'll help you save with our great deals and make sure your bill is the best it can be for you."
Seems like it's like it or lump it for me!
Er, thanks for nothing, cancellation tendered and off to Zen I go, would rather give them £50 a month for the 150Mbps - don't need a landline anyway.0 -
I didn't do as well as some here but there is potential with my offer if BT ever brings out a reasonable sim only offers.
I got the new SuperFast BT Plus BB + BT sport in HD on sky for £23.99 pm for 18 months. The HD is only free for the first 6 months then will cancel it.
New package auto doubles any data plan you have with BT but the sim only offers are shockingly bad. Also price freeze for the 18 months which will prob hurt me based on the discounts one gets when the prices go up.....0 -

Sounds about right.....they've credited me over £50 for THREE, yes THREE different !!!!-ups since i found out about this price increase and contacted them!!!! About £7 refund for Sport and Kids which was free and charged for, another £7 of a free month of both for getting it wrong even though i have it showing as free in my order and also a free month of £38.99 for a total farce when they removed half my channels by mistake. The service is pretty good when it works but the main drawback with this lot is sometimes they don't whether it's New Year or New York.....the more mistakes they make the more it's gonna cost them. If they don't learn from that they never will. I now have the number of the Executive level complaints and if they screw up again i'm straight onto them as i value my time more than they appear to!!!0 -
I didn't see any email about the price rise, the first I heard of it was when I checked my bill yesterday, additional £2.50 added.
I contacted their live chat about it, and he said I was sent an email in June, I said I didn't see it, but why would I get any email when I agreed to an 18 month contract paying £23.99pm for Broadband/phone in May this year?
It states on the agreement email when I set up on the 8th May,
'You'll get your bill: every month - You'll be paying the amount you agreed with us every month.'
So how can they break it?
The guy said he could see what offers BT could offer me, and promptly sent me my original deal of £23.99 pm for the same thing??? WTH is that about?0 -
Price increase notified months ago on here and newletter and multiple other sources .
Also been on BT web site for months .
As said multiple times your contract is subject to Price Increase .They are not breaking anything thats what you agreed to .
Thats on your T&C and on all BT advertising .
If they are offering the same price presume that is a new deal and new contract .
The legal stuff
ΔWe may change any prices and terms during your contract. If this affects you, we'll tell you about important changes in advance, and you'll be able to end your contract without any fees.0 -
Why bother with an agreed amount of months in a contract then if they can change it when they feel like it. What a waste of their and my time, and money, in renegotiating the same deal I was already committed to.0
-
Anyone else NOT get the email informing them of the price increase ?0
-
Others have claimed that and BT have said we sent it on xx Date .Emails sent out in batches from June .
some users may have informed BT of wrong adress for correspondence .0
