The savings account matured today with a whole £29 of interest... still, every bit helps.
I've now closed that account because of the dire interest rate from hereon and transferred the money to the premium bonds. There's £2450 in there now and I've upped the standing order to £50 a month as I'll no longer be sending £25 a month to the old account. Total savings, now £5515.

It's our last day of isolation today and I'm so thankful to say we feel well, especially as there have been reports of further members of the school bubble testing positive. :( DS had a bad nosebleed again this morning. He has had several this year, one got us a trip to A&E, so I've emailed the Dr. to ask for some advice as to whether they need to look into it further.

My Dad has his surgery this week. I am terrified. The gravity of it hit me last night when I was told he will be in intensive care afterwards for a time. Not being there to help or look after my Mum at least is just heart wrenching. This virus is just evil.

It's such a hard time at the moment. Best wishes for your dad and glad your DS is ok. Take care of yourself too.

Thanks Mrs Money Penny, I wish I could say all is well and good, but the truth is we nearly lost my Dad last weekend after serious complications from surgery. He is improving, but is still in hospital undergoing tests and treatment.
We also discovered my Mum has a serious condition which is hereditary, so myself and my sister have to be tested as soon as possible. It now transpires that this is probably what caused the death of my Mum’s sisters some years ago.
I also lost out on two houses this week after my offers were rejected for cash buyers.
And we’re now in lockdown again!
It’s been a really traumatic week to be honest. 😢

So sorry to hear this @MeandO.  I don't really have anything helpful to say, but thinking of you and hope things improve soon.

Thank you all for your kindness and well wishes, it means a lot and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Xx
I have really been struggling this past week and I am feeling very low about everything, I have an email consultation with the doctor tomorrow, cancelled from Friday, so I am going to speak to them about getting signed off work for a bit. My concentration and longevity with tasks is non existent at the moment and I am just struggling with day to day chores, let lone work and childcare in the mix at the same time.
I’ve tried to keep up with the banking and budgeting, and everything has been allocated on YNAB as it was payday yesterday. Some of the pots have had a little extra stashed to them before the standing order monthly amounts go in them in a few days. I also listed a BIN on eBay today which sold within an hour or two for £20, so I have added a couple of extra pounds to that amount and sent it to the mortgage, rounding the balance down to £97,250. I know I said I wouldn’t overpay at the moment, but it was money made from a sale and I also stashed extra to the savings today too.
It made me feel a bit better as well.

I’ve been signed off work for two weeks, with the first week being last week. It was a real relief as I was/am really struggling with concentrating on much. I haven’t been doing a lot which is unusual for me, but also haven’t been sleeping well, so still feeling really tired.

I have started the Christmas shopping online this week and have bought a few bits for DS, OH and I think I have pretty have pretty much sorted gifts for all of my family who live in another part of the country. I doubt very much that we will be able to see them his Christmas, 😢 so it will probably be a case of meeting a family member half way between our homes (It’s a 3.5 hour drive away otherwise) and exchanging gifts from car to car. Hard, but necessary at the moment. I can’t risk seeing my poorly parents with this virus as it is.

DS is at a difficult age to buy for, so I’m not sure what else I am going to get him atm. Hopefully inspiration will hit soon. The same with OH, he doesn’t really need or want anything.
Anyway, my gifts pot is pretty depleted now anyway, so I’ll have a think until I can stash a bit more away in there this week from the child benefit and tax credits, I still want to try and put some of that in the long term savings too though.

I have listed another item on eBay this morning and also sold a BIN for OH so can transfer a little bit of money to him. I have sorted out a few more charity bits too, although difficult to find somewhere accepting donations at the moment. I have 11 bin bag fulls in my garage for charity presently. 😫

The BIN I listed earlier sold making around £10 profit. I’ve paid that off the mortgage and added another £16.43 to round it down to exactly £96,900 now as the regularly monthly payment has also come out of the account too. The child benefit and child tax credits will have to top up the groceries budget, pay for the BT bill of just under £57 and top up the gift savings and hopefully the other savings pots too.
