Another day, another rubbish house viewed.
Obviously leaks through the ceiling, windows held in with expanding foam and damp are in at the moment. Estate agents really should be recognised for their amazing photography skills as the ones round here do a grand job of leaving all this out of the shots.

I must admit it baffles me. Surely it's part of the EA job to point out all the negatives to the seller so that they can either put it right before trying to sell, or make it obvious that there are problems and that the price is reduced accordingly? It would save an awful lot of people a lot of wasted time!I Believe.....

£57.91 OP to the mortgage
£50 to premium bonds
£107 cleared off the credit card and another £68 allocated to it for when the clothes payment appears on the statement.
£60 sent to the car maintenance pot

Well it seems I may not have actually ordered the clothes as I thought I had... I'm sure I went through checkout and paid for them but have had no confirmation email and no payment has shown up on the credit card, very strange. Perhaps I didn't complete the purchase as I thought I had? Oh well, I'll do without it all until I'm really desperate. The new boots arrived and I'm pleased with those anyway so can throw my old holey boots out now. If nothing shows up within the next few days I'll re-allocate the £68 to one of the savings pots instead. I have £300 in the Christmas savings but yesterday it dawned on me how close Christmas is, so I probably need to add to that pot.
Still no news on the house hunting front. I have a funny feeling that things are going to come to a head soon and the buyers will pull out. If this happens, I will be taking the house off the market with this agent and be putting it on with an online one that I have more control over the viewings and process. It will also cost me over £1500 less in commission. I have a feeling that we won't end up moving until next year at the earliest now which makes me feel miserable to be honest, but perhaps there'll be more on the market to choose from then? I am viewing two houses at the weekend, but one I have already viewed - it's too small, but I'm just seeing if there's potential to add on to it - the second looks fine but I'm not optimistic of the size of the garden which looks really small online. It's worth a look though, at least then I know I have explored all options.

The clothes turned up today so I wasn’t imagining it and I did place the order! Very strange not to have had a confirmation or acknowledgement email though. All but one item is fine, so I will return that to a store when I get chance this week. That’ll be a refund of £14 ish.
I viewed two more houses this morning, both are firmly crossed off the list. One was way overpriced by about £20k, was too small and I was told the vendors won’t budge from the asking price. The second had a garden the size of a postage stamp which was extremely overlooked, so I didn’t even bother to look upstairs tbh. An agent has given me a tip off about two houses coming to market soon which sound promising, so I’m trying to remain hopeful about those.I’ve had a lovely evening and morning with OH, just chatting, having a laugh, cooking nice food and chilling out a bit. We have both been shattered this week so both needed an easy day or two. His Mum popped over for a cuppa today too which was lovely, it was so nice to have a visitor! I don’t know many people here so can count on one hand the number of ‘visitors’ we’ve ever had at this house, it made a nice change. My own Mum is really poorly and back in hospital again, so I am worried about her more than usual. Also, my Dad doesn’t seem 100% either according to my sibling, so that is another big concern. It is so hard living so far away.
Have a good weekend all xxMortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Given that most buyers now look online I can't see the need for 'high street' offices either, with their high rent and rates!
If they were honest with the sellers, and gave realistic selling prices, I'm sure they'd get more sales!

Sorry to hear about your mum and dad @MeandO, it must be so hard.
Fingers crossed the two houses coming up are better. When we were moving we viewed quite a lot, in the end one of the agents got quite snappy and said "most people make an offer after viewing two or three properties", as if we were doing it for the fun of it and not, like you, because we found things misleading described and overpriced! It's such a stressful process.Mortgage December 2023: TBC

My sister's was right to be concerned, My Dad was also rushed into hospital yesterday, a large mass has been found in his kidney which they are certain is cancer. He is also in a lot of pain, as is my Mum. He is my Mum's carer too and now neither of them can be left alone, either apart or together. I feel like the bottom has fallen out of my world and we're falling down a massive black hole.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16
