    Thank you crazy_cat_lady Xx

Today DS went out to the nearest big city to us, around 45 minutes away. We had a lovely time playing Adventure Golf and DS even won himself another round at a later date! Lunch out for the two of us only cost me £2.70 thanks to Clubcard vouchers and we ate very well.
DS bought some Lego, but was given a budget and stuck to it, with a penny change! ;) and I bought some cake home from a favourite cake shop for us all to share. We really did have a lovely time.

Unforutnately that ended abruptly when we got home, walked into the Lounge and could see the sky through a hole in the lounge wall that definitely wasn!!!8217;t there when we left...:(
Turns out the builders had been whilst we were out, drilled through the wrong section, made a hole big enough to put my fist through and then gone home, without feeling the need to tell me.:mad::mad: It took me ages to track someone down from the building firm who then sent someone back round. Although he !!!8216;can!!!8217;t do anything about that until Monday!!!8217; as he didn!!!8217;t have his tools... He stuffed a carrier bag in it and left.
I!!!8217;m on the edge with it all now, I really am.

£22.21 paid our from top cashback yesterday, as soon as it’s cleared I will send it to one of the various pots.

Had a lovely morning with DS, dropped him at his Dad’s a couple of hours ago and already missing him like crazy. :( I won’t be seeing him for 9 days now as he’s away with his Dad and am dreading it. I’ll be at work and am sure the builders will be giving me enough to sort out and keep busy, but this is the longest I would ever have been away from DS and I always feel like I’m half missing without him. We’re a little team these days.

OH and I popped into Tesco on the way back earlier and I picked up some yellow sticker bargains, including some dairy-free foods for DS which I have portioned up and frozen. OH also had a £4 off a £30 spend so we used that too.
I’m back at home now, have had a shower, just about to tidy up and perhaps hoover before going to OH’s.

  • Just catching up on your diary.:eek: at the builders for leaving your house like that without saying anything. Hope you have a dry weekend and that they appear first thing on Monday to sort everything out.

Your days out with your DS sound lovely.

After a night of not sleeping more than a couple of hours, worried about my Mum, missing DS, worrying about the house and going over my argument to the builders this morning, I am shattered. OH probably is too as I kept him awake most of the night with my tossing and turning and eventually, I got up at some ungodly hour and walked about for a bit.
As above, I have had a right go at the two main bosses of the building firm this morning. Long story short, they will be fixing the damage and I have requested for them not to come out again until they can finish the job in one hit. Seems they have spread themselves too thin and are trying to get lots of jobs started at once, hence the haphazard repairs I have had so far. Someone is coming to secure and waterproof thing this afternoon and then I will expect them to be returning in around two weeks. I can really do without all of this at the moment, I am feeling so incredibly stressed and on the edge of losing it.

The remaining amount payable once the job is completed will be £4320. This delay does give me a bit longer to try and scrimp/save/make some money towards the final bill which, I imagine, I will need to pay in around 4 or 5 weeks' time, all going to plan. I've changed the name of one of my e-saver accounts linked to my current account which has now depressingly gone from 'Holidays £50pm' to 'House repairs £4320.' :( Anyhow, it will give me somewhere to save money towards the bill for now.

I have tidied up the categories on YNAB and have managed to send £20.84 to it that way and have also relegated the £30 that was sat in the holidays fund to the house repairs now, so there's £50.84 in it so far.

Had to stop writing the above as 'nice' builder turned up to do remedial stuff until they can return and start work with gusto (hopefully).

With regards to the debt repayment savings, I will be pleased if I can get the savings up to £350 in there within 4 weeks and at least get it down into the £3000's. Then it will be a case of chipping away at it as best I can until it's gone. I know I can pay off at least £150 a month to it, but that wont clear it quick enough for my liking, so I need to find ways to get that gone quicker.
My spare bed is covered with piles of clothes to list on ebay, so that's a good place to start...

Oh, and I've changed my signature to reflect the new debt-busting challenge. :(

Another £20 has been transferred to the house repairs pot from a couple of my small craft business sales, so that's £70.84 now in there.

OH transferred £10 he owed me for some groceries so I've sent that and a little £1.41 from tidying the budget categories, to the house repairs pot.

House repairs: was £4320 now £4237.75 :((£82.85 saved)

Last night I popped to Home Bargains and picked up some vitamins for DS (£1.99 in home bargains, £4.99 in Asda!:mad:) as he is on a restricted diet due to allergies and has to take vitamins. I also picked some up for myself in the hope of a bit of a boost along with some face wash and dry shampoo at 2 for £2.
I needed to stock up on wrapping paper, a birthday present and I also picked up some cheap bits for DS for Christmas and stocking fillers ranging from 49p to £2.99. I spent a total of £29.12, but £17.89 of it was gifts so I've transferred that from the gift account. :)

Some YS chicken is out of the freezer and defrosting for OH and I to make fajitas/tacos tonight. We picked up some really cheap taco packs in tesco for 50p the other day, reduced from £3, and they came with the wraps, marinade and salsa. We bought 3 each, so may be having variations of tacos for a while! ;) I have some peppers and onions that need using up, so will throw those in the mix too.

I'm hoping to cut the grass after work today. I was too tired to face it last night but want to get it done before it rains again.

I also have all the ingredients in for a Mojito loaf cake which I've been meaning to make for over a week now. :o Hopefully I will get that in the oven tonight too.

    Have a good day all

  • Hope all of this business with the house is sorted soon - it sounds so stressful. I'm a lot like you in that I stress over everything during the night and then don’t sleep.
Would love to hear more about mojito cake...

Thank you crazy_cat_lady. It's awful taking stress to bed isn't it. :( I actually slept well (for me) last night for a change, so am hoping the sleep will get better from hereon.

Mojito cake sounds brilliant doesn't it! It was a recipe from either and Asda or Tesco free in store magazine a couple of months ago. I shall report back on how it goes! Let me know if you'd like the recipe, I will copy it out for you. x
