Ebay Dilemma - what would you do?

Just to throw in what I guess has happened from the Amazon side. It's likely that the release date was put back on Amazon and the Ebay seller had not seen it and assumed it was readily available.Brookside88 wrote: »
I looked on ebay and amazon and found that amazon was selling them for 14.99 but they were pre-order for the 18th June - too late for his party. I then found a set on ebay for 27.99 for delivery 23rd - 25th May. I checked the description very carefully to ensure they'd arrive in time.
They were promptly marked as dispatched so I waited for delivery but on the 29th May they still hadn't arrived so i messaged the seller asking for a tracking number. He said "i'm sorry you didn't notice this item is pre-order for the 18th June". I checked back on the listing and he had changed the title of the listing to pre-order and added it in the description. This was 100% not stated when I ordered them. At this point I knew exactly what he was up to and requested a refund which was received.
Dropshipping from Amazon to Ebay is perfectly acceptable to Ebay. I'd rather not but I appear to sell a fair bit on Ebay this way, there's nothing I can do to stop it. It mostly annoys me that Ebay buyers are paying 50% more for some items. In the case of this seller the problem has been not having the item in stock. The feedback and rating system on Ebay help to give the seller a bad rep and ultimately get them off Ebay.
Your main problem was with the delay, if they'd arrived on time you'd have been happy and moved on..0 -
You could ask Amazon to collect/issue a returns label for the item.
I took in a parcel for a neighbour once, and a week later, having tried several times a day to get hold of said neighbour I contacted Amazon. They were able to reference the details on the parcel to find the original order, and were going to sort things out with my neighbour.
When Amazon get the item back they'll presumably automatically refund the original order, which is what would've happened if the delivery was refused.
I had thought this but I don't feel I should have to put myself out to return them since they never should have been sent in the first place
I can barely find time to go to the petrol station so I'd struggle to find the time to stand in a post office queue0 -

As much as I'd like to believe it was a simple error, the CBeebies page on Facebook posted that they would they would be released on Amazon with a pre order date of the 18th. It was listed that way from the start0 -
I would give them to my nephew and get on with the rest of my day.0

His birthday is at the end of August which gives the seller plenty of time do send a return label. If nothing materialises then that's exactly what I'll do0
