  • RichardNL. If you really are the Richard from the show, **Welcome** please dont take things from the internet too seriously.
Just out of interest, how did you find out we were discussing you/your house?, and will you be taking any of our comments on board? (e.g. rendering)?

Thanks, it may of looked like the walls were painted, but the programme people came up with the idea of using a product called Thermastex which is not as heavy as a render but has thermal capabilities and has a render effect. (A piece of advice from the TV show we took on board and went with, but looks like on the show that we just painted the walls, not that I'm bitter of course ;-) )

I found the forum as one the forums, I think the Channel 4 one had some really nasty personal comments about my girlfriend, I don't mind the comments about the house and the area but personal comments about my girlfriend really got my goat so I've been getting the more nastier ones removed where I can.

Also there have been a lot of inaccuracies posted which I wanted to correct such as the council estate next door (private 30's estate with really nice people), the effect of the transport (they needed to film from the roof of one of the flats to get the full effect rather than the garden)

    Anyway rant over

    Richard

Just to clear up some misconceptions

The property was only 3/4 finished when filmed two months ago when shown on TV, it has only just recently been finished and put on the market. A number of rooms were not in a state to be seen on TV or the buying public for example the rear garden was still a building site, the majority of filming was in the smaller bedroom, single was thrown onto the patio area to give the appearance of being finished

We have had valuations of 2 x 1.2 mill and 1 x 1.3m including one agent that changed his mind on camera and reduced to 1.1 m. A lot of people will market their property for the highest valuation so are we in the wrong by dong so ?

The estate that was shown is not and never has been a council estate but has been in private ownership since the 1930's and is in walking distance of the Thames with it's pubs and also walking distance tio Chiswick's bars and restaurants.

PL's surveyor only ended up suggesting putting in a few more acro props not exactly discounting the existing acro prop solution that was already in place

The area is not as noisy as portrayed on the programme, they showed the same shot of the tube at least twice.

A 5 bed house converted into bedsits has recently been sold for more than we want to people that want to convert it back into a family home, this is positioned closer to the main road than we are.

It has been next to impossible to get any planning for anything apart for a basement for the property.

The idea of two flats was ruled out, if you owned the bottom flat would you want someone peering at you through the skylights and into your private patio area from the balcony ?

Also, thanks for the critical personal comments we may of been on TV and be asking for it but at the end of the day we are still human beings

    Richard

I think you meant to say we may have been -what do you do for a job again?

    In a word, yes.(Is the word "dong" a Freudian slip ;) )
Now back to the real point of this thread.

Is Sarah as hot as she looks?
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.
  • Richard,

What is the approx benefits/discounts for appearing on PL? (In % of total budget roughly)

Do the PL team help with furnishing/final looks/presentation and if so how exactly.

Apart from advertisement/advice/connections/suppliers’ discounts what are the benefits of involving PL?

In general is it worth the filming-associated troubles?

Was it worth for you personally taking into account ‘negative’ publicity?

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldnt say anything that I said about your girlfriend was really nasty, (but I still dont think we would get along curtain shopping :p, and she did come across as being the key decision maker). However, I will say that anything I said was before I found out that the whole show is staged. Either way I do feel a little guilty now, must be tough reading such comments. So give her an apology and a hug from me.

I dont expect you to give too much away here, but any have you had much serious interest since the show?...is the agent it is on with now, one of the agents featured on the show?

OK... I would want to just curl up and DIE if I read message boards full of people talking about me. I'm a pretty, um, strong personality and I know that I would come across as a bit of a kook on any similar show.

I had no idea that PL did so much staging and the whole show no longer appeals to me at all.

However, I still say the bucket-foot lesbians are crazy people and they made a very ugly house.

  • When I said staging I meant the team of people that come round just before filming and clean the place and then accessorise it with their own choice of items such as fruit bowls, table lamps, towels etc. The rest of the program is fact though some "scenes" may be re-enacted for camera such as phone calls etc

Sarah comes across as a really down to earth person, she obviously has assets and I'll admit it was a consious effort to look her in the eye when she was interviewing us ;-)

See, now... that might explain why your wife did all the talking... you were busy just trying to keep your eyes out of trouble. ;)
