I'd be worried about them saying they were going to polyfill those HUGE cracks that appeared in the house when it wasn't propped up properly!

Definately think she wore the trousers in that relationship ;)

I nearly had a fit when the hubbie said "Well, now the house is stable, we can just fill in those cracks with polyfiller".

There are much nicer Edwardian style houses on Rightmove for similar asking prices. I know which I'd prefer....

  • !!!! up there then. Budget £210k ... spent 450k doing it up
I (and Canunklehead probably) would love to find customers who overspend by £240,000. Unfortunately not come across one yet.

Two things that stuck out of that program. One, she had no idea of interior design. It was all out of magazines / catalogues / brochures and was never "pulled together". Two, Beenbag really annoyed me twice by coming up with ideas months late. "Why don't you move the front door to the side basement?" Er, Hello? Mrs so called Property Developer, can't you read plans? "Wouldn't it be better as two flats?" See previous answer. You could make the argument that the decision to move the front door at Beanbag's suggestion must have cost them £xx,000.

I'm also with someone else's comment, wouldn't be surprised if it settles or moves again after all that pratting about.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

  • I thought a "lodge" was a house at the gate at the entry of a grand estate. Is this the "lodge" for the "estate" of the block of flats behind it?

I just love, love, love how they think they can mint money simply by saying, "We need to make this much profit."

I'd love to hear what the builders who worked (and quit) on that site have to say!

I'm just shocked it cost that much. Digging to Australia like that would cost a fortune but you could pull off a far better finish than that for nearly half a million pounds!

I suspect their builder is currently having himself a long holiday in Australia!

Oh and the expression 'pea on a drum' came to mind with the proportions of the house. Also, the garden was a bit old-fashioned wasn't it? And the large kitchen/diner/lounge looked a bit crowded. Even with London prices it's way overpriced.

Liked it when looking at another (quite nice) flat she said 'I wouldn't pay it' but she expects some numpty to pay more for her far inferior property!!

That's greed and stupidity for you.

The thinking goes like this :

"I will spend £210k and will sell for £800k" but then "Oh I have overspent by £200k so I will sell now for £1m"

As if it's as simple as that.

    F*cking idiots.

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided

#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now

#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing
  • I'm still going to have to stick with the bucket-footed lesbians as my all-time favorites, though. Remember all that trouble they went to, trying to do shortcuts in converting the loft?!
