Help needed if anyone can? Im currently with BT and have been for 10 years usually i ring when out of a contract and the offer a good enough deal not to switch however now i want to do fibre its working out quite expensive, there top fibre is going to cost £43.69 and £10 for hub! been looking around and Vodafone do a similar deal at £28 with a £24 set up, but as ive never been with anyone other than BT i dont know what there like can anyone help? or can anyone suggest who else to look at? i find broadband has started to drop at times but i do live in the sticks and some company wont do my area i did try the link Edward suggested in the above post but i haven't got any idea what the results tell me. Any help will be much appreciated

edit: on the link shared above it says : This exchange has BT Wholesale as the sole provider of broadband services, does this mean i can only get fibre from BT?
Use BT wholesale checker to see what products BT can offer to you with a speed estimate. Use the address checker if you don't have a BT phone number.
    https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm?s_cid=ws_furls_adslchecker

The line to the cabinet/exchange will be the same will any other provider other than Virgin media and certain independent ISPs.
You can check with Vodafone if they offer their service to your property using their checker.
  • Please can anyone help me. We signed up for the BT infinity fibre unlimited, phone and TV offer which was available until end Jan. It offered a pre-paid mastercard and I believe also a gift voucher. Obviously the details of the offer are no longer available on this site or the BT.com page where we bought it. The confirmation emails have no mention of the offer. I have found the page to claim the mastercard (£80). I followed the MSE link to the gift voucher claim page for the current offer and when I completed the form it said that we would receive a NEXT gift voucher and the dates in the T & C are all from 2016. The offer was in Jan 2017 and the voucher was definitely not for next but I can;t remember what it was for (amazon?).

My plea - can anyone remember what the offer was? Am I imagining the gift voucher???
    Thank you

It usually means BT Wholesale who sell to BT, Plusnet and some others but it is BT kit.

This is true unless their is fibre to the door.

There are some areas where the cabling was shared, can't remember the name but it badly affected broadband speeds. People on forum said that 3rd party providers would have to pay BT £1000 to put proper cable in but if you were with BT it was done free.

It probably wasn't this particular offer:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/bt-unlimited-infinity-1-fibre-up-52mb-free-weekend-calls-including-line-rental-29-2598668

But a little judicious searching within HUKD might well unearth the offer you signed up to. :)

    This happens a lot.

In future you might try to save the page or copy the URL to archive.org that way there will be a dated copy that they can't deny.

Some deals require a nag in a windows of time

Always seems to be BT and Plusnet where people have payout issues.

After being with Virgin media since they started and before that Cable & Wireless, NTL and Nynex whom all eventually replaced each other. I have decided to finally get myself a better deal as they keep hiking the prices.

I don't want a phone line, or TV, just broadband and the best standalone fibre deal I can find is Vodafone at £23 p/month for 36MB or £28 for 72MB and a £30 (reduced from £60) connection fee (I am a Vodafone customer).

For some reason, Martin on the main site completely neglects to mention Vodafone or EE in the standalone fibre deals.

I just want to know people's thoughts on Vodafone. Anyone know any blags I cause to get it even cheaper or a month free before I sign up? Or does anyone know of a better fibre deal before I put pen to paper?

    Thanking you all in advance..

My brother ordered sky fibre late last night, and looking on sky website today finds that all fibre prices have dropped.
What a bad bit of timing that is,very unhappy.

Is there not a cooling off period? Ask them to match their new price or he'll look elsewhere.

I thought that Vodafone's 'standalone fibre' will automatically include a working phone line? It'll certainly include a piece of phone wire into the house.
