Two phone calls later I eventually spoke to the Retentions / Cancellations department and they offered me Infinity 1 unlimited 54Mb on a 12 month contract for £5 bband + £18.99 line rental (=£23.99) per month with free BT Sport & Starter TV package and I got them to include a new Smart Router for free as well. Still considering if to go for the Line Rental Saver at £205.08 but that is non refundable if/when they increase prices during the contract so might just pay monthly instead.
Happy with that deal, BT were easy and pleasant to deal with and it saves me the hassle of changing to a new ISP, which most likely would have been Plusnet 38Mb at £25 pm (£21.11 with cashback)
The point of the Line rental saver is you paying upfront at a set price. When BT does increase the line rental price, it won't affect you. Only when they increase the price for the broadband, landline and/or tv package does that increase your bill.0 -

That sounds a very good deal to me, and rather better than I'd expect from BT - thanks for posting it. The line rental's a given, so £5 pm for unlimited Infinity 1's excellent value.0 -

BT will put the price up during the contract, they always do, but no-one knows by how much.
The Line Rental Saver is a saving of £22.80 over the year and as you say any increase they make to line rental won't affect me. So as long as the broadband doesn't go up by more than £22.80 total during the remaining part of the 12 month contract all I'd be doing is giving them some or all of that £22.80 back. Last year they increased my bband by £1pm several months into the contract so I still ended up on the plus side overall.0 -

Yes, and to be honest I thought £33 pm original deal incl line rental for the 72MB Infinity 2 was a good price too but I didn't need anything like that speed hence why I looked for something around the Plusnet £25pm range on fibre.
If I drop down to ADSL, I'm around 2 miles from the exchange and my max dl speed would be about 6Mb, that's why I try to stay with fibre if the price is right.0 -
Sky line rental increase in March , they just haven't told anyone yet...0

Hi!
I'm thinking to take Sky broadband for 154 pounds per year but I have a completion day on my property on 25th of january so not sure if I can sign in now but specify I want to start this contract from 25th? Do anyone know?0 -
You can specify up to 30 days ahead I think, my advice would be to get a Sim and manage on that until a better offer comes along. At the moment they are all doing around £13 a month including line rental.
So feels they are working as a cartel or like the petrol stations taking turns on who is loss leading, but just to pretend market is actually functioning they will do a stonking offer.
Last March Sky did a reasonable deal but then in June they did the £61 deal, the October before that they did £5 for the year including line rental.
I think they want to increase their income so will do most deals on fibre this year but that will be a mistake because they will miss out on a huge demographic.
I am not sure if I missed any deals but Plusnet did not reeally loss lead at all last year, TalkTalk did a few matching deals, when Sky offered £61 they offered £24 but only if you pushed them. BT seem happy to just bundle TV and occasionally offer a credit card.
So come June I will move to Plusnet if they do a deal close to what I am paying now just to be away from Sky for a year, or I may move back to a mobile sim, I have managed for a year before now.
I took up the Sky offer and was instructed Sky could postpone my Activation date until my contract with PlusNet had expired in early February, this did not prove the case as they began the switch-over almost straight away and gave an Activation date that mean't I was in breach of contract with PlusNet, never mind PNs insistence that I incur a £30 penalty for changing to Sky - this was obviously taking over both the phone line and BB, but was nonetheless not amused by the realities and having to chase both Sky and PlusNet - many excuses on all sides. Sky reimbursed me for PlusNet £30 charge, but only after a struggle and threatening to cancel my order in full. Hope this assists, but may be different for new lines to new build housing!0 -
Currently with BT and at end of contract so was thinking of moving. Anybody who is a current SKY TV customer had any joy in using the MSE offer to leverage a better deal? Unfortunately I have sky tv so best I can get is £30 for fibre unlimited and haven't moved so far on that..or alternatively anybody managed to bag the latest the Smart Hub with BT and get it for £12 a month (on top of the line rental)?0
