Well you have the option of Virgin Media or mobile operators like Three, T-Mobile, Vodafone etc.

But like i said if you have a land line you could get something around £10 but if you're expecting an excellent service for that price then I wouldn't get your hopes up. You'll have some small allowances for bandwidth i reckon. You need to look at what you want from the service, if its price then expect to not have great speed/allowances. If its service then expect to put your hand in your pocket a little more :)

Regarding Virgin not charging, i'd call & get it sorted asap.

Ok will take a look at the above thanks for replying and help :T
  • I, too, am looking for cheapest broadband. I do have a landline, but can't use Tiscali as I used it before and had billing problems. I do have Sky, but am worried about combining Broadband and TV, we don't have cable up here, so Virgin is out.

Sky broadband mid range at £5 seems to be good value for money. I, too was worried to combine tv & broadband. With Bt, I was offered to pay £12.99 and a new contract and the usuage is only 5gb, had to pay a penaly nearly every month, with sky I got 40 gb.I just switched on the 16th and everything seems to be fine. Quite happy at the moment, the switch went trouble free. I was really debating with myself whether to switch to sky and am glad I did, but it is still early days. Hope this helps.

I currently have free Orange land BB with my mobile phone package. The mobile phone comittment period is up in June though so I need to shop around. It looks like I have 3 options:

    1. Renew with Orange and benefit from free BB
    2. Look for stand alone BB and a separate mobile phone contract (or convert my son to PAYG)
    3. Get a new combined mobile + fixed BB package.

    Where are the best deals?

Can anyone tell me what is the best deal for me 'cheapest if possible for broadband not virgin as they have decided to up my bill without telling me for the past 3 months so have decided to on from them I only want broadband with a land line do not really want a router any help will be great as i'm not the best at searching for deals

Did they put the price up to £18 a month as the 12 month introductory offer ended?

If you have no problems with the service you could sign to another 12 month contract with Virgin and have 6 months at £10 a month and the remaining 6 at £18.

If you want landline Virgin offers broadband+landline for £15.50 for 12 months.
The speed of the internet in both packages is 2mbps and unlimited (fair use policy) downloads. You can sign up online.

    1. Orange no longer offers free broadband for mobile customers, it's £7 a month.
    2. If your son's usage is not too high this maybe a good option.
    3. o2 and vodafone both other fixed line broadband+mobile phone packages. Vodafone offers broadband+all calls to landlines(excl. line rental) to its customers for £14 a month. o2 is great at £7.50 just for broadband.

I am a Virgin Broadband customer, no landline or TV with them but I do have the £10 a month mobile phone deal. I know people that do have the entire package have negotiated some cracking deals.

Last year I decided that I wanted a better deal so gave them a call and they knocked my monthly broadband charge down to £10. I get my bills from them via email as well as a 'hard copy' in the post and have noticed that this months bill has jumped back up to £18, so I guess my discounted year is up. They didn't tell me as such, I have just noticed it on the bill. So I'll be calling them up this weekend to negotiate another deal or will move elsewhere as there is definitely cheaper options than £18 a month available!

I have found their service absolutely fine over the past 5 years - I have only had 2 occasions when the service has been down and customer service has always been good if I have phoned.

Can you let me know how you go on when you ring them, I have exactly the same deal as you with the £10 broadband & the £10 mobile.
My reduced price broadband deal will be ending soon so I am curious as to what they offer you.
