Congrats to all soon-to-be-graduates!
Woken up at 6.30am by Himself taking my phone (and half garrotting me with the charging lead) to check the delivery time for the New Posh Freezer, as it 'could' have arrived from 7. Promptly went back to sleep again.
It's scheduled for between 1 and 5pm, which means mooching around the house all day, so I suppose a bit of housework is in order - when I came down for coffee, I realised that Himself had put some effort in to get the old mini freezer ready to be collected and disposed of, as the Fluffy Grumpy Cat is sleeping on it by the front door. Not 100% convinced of the sense in there being a £20 charge to collect it, but it's exactly the same price as the council (no wonder the streets are littered with fridges, freezers and broken furniture).
I reckon today is a good day for vacuuming. Just not quite yet, as I'm still feeling sleepy.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Going quite well here
WUDUPA
DW emptied and on again
HHI
Kitchen wiped
Lounge tidied, cushions plumped up and hovered so looking nice.
Going to have an early lunch then pop to shops but need to meal plan a bit first
Off to see if WM done so it can go on again, load sorted ready.
I'll be back later0 -
Bedding has just gone into the wm. Better late than never. And then it promptly started to drizzle so I will probably have to hang up inside.
A small grocery shop has been done, plus I managed to squeeze in another couple of errands by queuing outside the shops until 9am clicked over and before my hour parking ran out. I took myself out this morning for my first attempt at a jog for probably 18 months. It was hard work, and I'm not sure yet whether I am going to repeat the experience. This is all in the name of the slinky challenge, so I guess it is good use of my time.
I have another couple of errands to do this afternoon, then it is off volunteering this evening. I'm not particularly looking forward to it, but there we are.
I have 45 minutes to motivate myself to do something useful before I have to be gone again. Or just to have another cup of coffee, which is tempting.0 -
It's not just me not making progress with the Slinky Challenge, then. It does make me realise just how much of an achievement it is for those that are cutting themselves down to size. Well done everyone who weighs less now than they did at new year. I am not among your number - yet.
Happy freezer-filling Jojo!
Huge congratulations to the Valligirl and Dancemum's DS1. Well worth the effort by both students and parents but hard-earned at the time.
(((Hugs))) Dizzy, Frodders and Mrs MP.
One of my three frogs has been eaten and fully digested. It has taken years to sort it out and I'm thrilled I now have a definitive answer on a Waspi pension issue that I've been trying to resolve without success until a phone call this morning to a chap called Martin at the DWP. He couldn't have been more helpful, which is more than I can say when I first phoned about this issue in March 2014, at least two years after I knew it was a problem when they didn't know any of the answers. More than that, I even understand why I've been confused! Excellent man, that Martin.
I'm now going to nibble both other frogs. Eventually I'll get to the point when it'll be straightforward to just carry on eating. I've promised myself I'll take a bite out of both of them every day until I get to that point.
It's been drizzling for three days continuously.Better is good enough.0 -
New Posh Freezer delivered - have already decided that the TD should be moved (and have done so as it's so light in comparison to everything else). Swept underneath, studiously ignored the massive rip in the lino where Himself pulled the WM out at some point, shoved TD by the stairs and pushed the NPF almost into its place (I've left a gap at present, as the side of the WM needs a good clean. And it's the perfect size for storing the broom). Swept up the tiny shreds of polystyrene, too.
Himself is watching football.
I'm looking askance at the WM. Other than the telly (which I wouldn't miss in the slightest if it disappeared Right This Minute), it's the oldest appliance in the house at roughly 13 years. And realising just how battered and tattered it looks, with massive cracks along the edges, plus all the issues with getting it to handle fabric conditioner (it doesn't) and the way it rattles and shakes when there's a load on for a spin - although that *might* be due to somebody overloading it.
I really hope that doesn't give up the ghost; trips to the launderette, although potentially quite peaceful (and vaguely convenient, as there are two round the corner), would be a flaming nightmare.
I'm also wondering what should be done with the full/almost double drum kit that's [strike]getting in the way[/strike] stacked up in the kitchen. Hopefully, it will now irritate Himself enough to do something about it.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Huge Congratulations to DanceSon1 and Valligirl on getting their degrees. :T:T:T:TAs I seem to be (*whispers* insert the forbidden F word here) miserably on the slinky challenge, I am trying to talk myself into getting some exercise. The trouble is that I can think of a million and one things that I need to do instead, and that suddenly seem to be attractive to do
.
I think I need to ban Mr LW from eating at the computer; I just upended the keyboard and gave it a shake, and I think the crumb equivalent of an entire packet of crackers fell out!
Still haven't sorted out my card-making stuff (Frog, anyone??) but the box is now on my desk in the lounge, where hopefully it'll annoy me enough to deal with it.
Anyone seen my GUAG? It's vanished. :cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Himself decided that Mr T was the best shop to go to for frozen stuff, so we trailed off there to find largely empty freezers. Managed to get a few bits, but my main irritation was in a store so massive, there were a whole three types of non dairy ice cream, two of which had clearly been defrosted and refrozen a few times. In the end, I shoved some assorted fresh meats into the trolley and will have to divvy them up into portions in a little while (they're sitting in the fridge at present).
On the plus side, they actually had washing up bowls - I've been looking for about a month for one in various places with no success.
I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow, as I felt dizzy again as soon as we went out and struggled to get round the supermarket. But I don't have any choice about it.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
