I have a friend with various health issues who berated those who bought extra stocks to increase their storecupboards, Then when Covid caused lockdown she was left with empty cupboards and the need to queue for three hours for items which were out of stock while she felt desperately unwell . Am pleased to say the penny has now dropped.Incidentally I have seen that Waitrose have just declared that they will NOT be stocking chlorinated chicken5

Not sure what prepping for Brexit has to do with the last two posts
Or what the posts have to do with us leaving the EU ...
Unnecessary and irrelevant IMO

I have a misplaced sense of the ridiculous and was trying to make a joke however? it's a quote from An American Tail with Fivel the mouse and the song goes 'there are no cats in America and the streets are paved with cheese' sung by the mice emigrating and going on to the ship! that's why they wanted to get to America!2

Apologies if i misinterpreted your post - i had more issue with the one above, but yours seemed to agree. This otherwise useful thread has frequently been derailed by unnecessary posts such as that.I wanna be in the room where it happens2

Accepted but if you'd asked why I'd have explained.1

Currently I am trying not to get irate with my husband. He does not get that a penny saved in dried goods is several pence to use elsewhere in another few months, let alone the peace of mind that comes with having a footrest of canned beans the chaps all eat (picky mortals). He thinks I should have saved it all to buy a car with, when I currently have no need of one other than the once a week shop. That I clobbered several bargains at Costco means nothing - every penny of beans & laundry powder is a penny that should have gone on a car I don’t have, don’t want & this week, don’t need.
While I encouraged son through a motorway lesson & a “handles differently laden, doesn’t it” lesson, the lad was then interrogated as to what I hadn’t bought & why, despite staying in the car (grumbling about the heat) throughout.
Some days are Difficult.Advice on how to soothe those who prepare differently? Other than outlive them?7
