Racking up a few £ already trying to get through to do that and in the meantime I've had an email from Plusnet saying I'm going to be charged £12.15 for leaving 4 days before contract ends. On Friday they told me via chat I'd only be billed for any calls. Broadband providers must be worst customer service

Just an update: Plusnet have relented on the £12.15 so it's Now 3 days before I wanted but not worth the hassle of cancelling and starting again. Thanks for advice AndyPK
  • Just a word of warning as stated in my post title..

Long story short.. I took out an 18 month tv and broadband package with Talk Talk as a new customer. The service didn't go live when it was supposed to and I lost a weekend with no services at all. Then the tv picture kept on breaking up (despite me checking my antenna and cabling.)
The wifi reception was worse than previous providers despite the router being in the same position at home and the router supposedly having improved technology.
I contacted Talk Talk after 10 days of being 'live' and started the process of changing providers.
The next thing I know I have a bill for nearly £150 on top of the £90 monthly charge and one off tv box fee.
I've tried telephone and email complaints pointing out their '30 day Great Connection Guarantee' but they're saying my issues to apply to the guarantee.
All their guarantee says is that if you're not completely satisfied with your fibre broadband, you can cancel free of charge within the first 30 days.

Talk Talk are the worst company I've ever dealt with by far. My complaint is on going right now but looks like its going to the ombudsman.

    Thanks for reading.

Joined NOWbb in dec 2018 for a 12mth contract with all calls inclusive. Less than 5months later they are changing the contact to their benefit and adding in calls charges at 23p connection and at least 16p per min. YET a new customer can get the original 12mth contract I signed to in dec.
They are going to graciously wave the early exit charge. As far as I see these early exit fees are null and void as they have changed the contract and therefore the early exit fees are part of a contract that does not exist anymore. The operator I spoke to didn't see the despicable nature of a business practice that was reneging on a contract less than 40% into that contract, whilst at the same time as the defaulting on the contract the company is offering the exact same contact to new customers for a 12mth duration?!?!?

NOWbb seems to operate in a manner that feels like sharp practices.
They also do not do Direct Debit payment but insist on Continuous Card payment. Thus giving THEM control and could leave customers open to any future sharp practices this shoddy company might wish to conjure up.

Companies who default on their contracts should be liable to customers receiving damages not simple being offered the exemption of exit fees that in law ceased to exist when the default was enacted by the company.

Just approach your bank and ask for a new card. Continuous payment problem solved as card i now invalid and ended :T:T:T

Unless I'm misunderstanding, your issue is with the WiFi and the Freeview signal through your aerial? If so then I doubt either are included in their guarantee.
  • My 12 month for £15 offer with Now Broadband and talk is expiring next month so I rang them up (25 minute wait) and the adviser put me on the 12 month £18 a month plan.
Although the Now website says it is a new customer offer they offered it straight away. Only £3 a month more than last year.

I am getting a download speed of 17 Mbps which is good enough for me.

I would recommend Now Broadband. Was tempted by TalkTalk but 18 month contract and the hassle of switching put me off.

When my initial £20 NowTV fibre deal was coming to an end I gave them a call and they were happy to put me on the current £25 plus Anytime Calls package that new customers were offered. They seem very easy to talk to.

I was thinking more about the end of the term when, if you don't owe anything, you can cancel the direct debit to stop them taking a month's advance charge and refunding it weeks later. Not so easy with a continuous charge on a card - still doable (I think), but probably needs a call rather than a click.

Just change your card, job done

They told me I can upgrade my plan at any time. If there is a good offer that is launched I might switch to that. You are paying £7 more than me and getting fibre and anytime calls !

I got Now Fab Fibre last month and broadband speeds are not good.
Their line check and my bandwidth test were showing I should get 23Mbps but they are just tests.

My Samsung Smart TV decided that I don't have enough bandwidth and configured YouTube app to 720p can't increase that.
I suspect Now just throttles (traffic shaping).

Cancelled my account in cooling off period and looking for new provider.
One of these may be Plusnet/Vodafone/Postoffice ?
