Pot Smoking Neighbours

I live in an upstairs flat in Chiswick which is very nice except I now have non stop pot smoking neighbours in the flat downstairs. As a result, my flat continuously stinks, my clothes stink and the hallway stinks. I've complained to my private landlord but his attitude is people have different lifestyles and I have to live with it. I don't think this is necessarily true so I was wondering what I can do legally to get something done about it?

A call to the local bill reporting it might sort it - particularly if they are dealing the stuff as well.0

Call the Police?0

Drugs and weapons go together, I'd call the filth.......0

Do the neighbours have the same landlord?
If so, you could try continuing to complain, make clear that you consider it a nuisance. However, it will be very difficult to get them to stop, particularly if the landlord isn't interested, so it may be similar to move.
I doubt the police will be interested if they are simply smoking.
You might look into the cost of an air purifier - I think they start at around £40.
Have you tried speaking to your neighbours? You might be able to ask them to avoid smoking in whichever room is under your bedroom, for instance. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1 -
Spend £3 with land registry & find out owner. Inform police or crimestoppers (anonymous). And maybe mortgage lender.0

It's unlikely the police will be that bothered about recreational use of cannabis. They just don't have the resources to deal with every pothead in London. They're rather target those involved in the supply.
By all means, call the police (on a non-emergency number) but don't suggest there is dealing or weapons as some have suggested. Their landlord is probably a better person to approach."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

I think you'd be better to look into how the smell is getting in - are there cracks etc in the floors which could be filled?
Do the two flats have the same landlord?0 -
Speaking as a Londoner, can I point out that in this day and age with terrorism, acid attacks, moped gangs and stabbings, I think the police have got quite enough on their plate without having to deal with intrusive smells as well. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker3

A positive input ventilation (PIV) system might help, but its own air intake would need to be from a fresh location.0
