    Good morning everyone

What a horrible cold day it is. Definately a day to stop in with a nice hot cuppa and put the tv on.

TS sorry your trip was canx but it is probably safest its not worth risking life for but I'm glad the hotel have sorted for you

You all mentioning the old ways of not locking doors I think we are still a bit like that here in Norfolk in this little village there is me and OH our kids and my parents and my nanny plus her relatives (my great something-or-other lol). I never have my door locked when I'm at home and my family always just knock and open the door they don't wait. My nanny will even tell me off if I knock on her door and wait :). In our last house we need even used our front door everyone used to just go straight roun the side of the house to the kitchen door

Goin to try to tackle another room to immaculate cleanly state today just can't decide which one as the kids are currently trashin most of them lol

CM - you are so lucky that you can still leave doors open. Wouldn't dream of doing that now.
AH - agree, think we were lucky. Certainly had no gadgets, I did have a dolls pram and some dolls, can remember my dolls getting new clothes knitted or crocheted by my nan every Christmas. Other than that, we tended to make our own amusements!

On another note about leaving doors open, when we first moved into our house, we were the 1st to move in on a brand new development, I had left the door unlocked and someone walked in. I went into the hall to see who it was, didn't recognise the family and asked what they wanted. The cheeky b*ggers wanted to look around. I said sorry, this is privately owned. The woman said, Oh don't worry, we won't make a mess, but want to see what these houses are like inside. I explained that there was a show house - she said I know, but it is closed, so I thought it would be better to look around a "real house"!
Really struggled to get rid of them, so now I am paranoid about checking doors locked all the time.

Feel the need for a rant especially after talking about good neighbours in years gone by! When I was doing housework this morning spotted that one of our neighbours who lives alone was struggling to get her car out of the garage due to the frozen snow on her drive. She was trying to move the snow to the side. Mentioned to hubby and he went out to help her. Whilst he was out there, he decided to clear the driveway of another 2 older neighbours as well. We don't have small driveways either!
One of the neighbours has 2 sons living close by as well as 3 grandchildren - all grown men who live less than 2 miles away and hadn't even be to see their mum. They don't call that often anyway, but as she has been ill and we have been knocking and doing her shopping, thought they would have called in a little more frequently. Her DS has called this afternoon spotted hubby outside and didn't even say thank you!

That's so sad to hear Snowdrop. especially as their mothers have brought them up :(

I just hope my DS doesn't grow up like that.

I made him give up his seat on the bus the other day for an elderly lady, he got upset as he didn't want to, but after I said to him how pleased she was that he had, and she couldn't stop smiling. I told him I was proud of him and he got a wow for school ( a wow is when the kids do something that makes us I say wow. It gets read out in front f their whole class and the kids love getting wows.) So he is ok with it now and keeps talking about it. Just hope he remembers this as he gets older.

Its awful when family don't look after the older relatives especially parents.

Lat time we had snow my ds cleared out drive but didn't do next doors (an elderly lady) as her son, her daughter in law and 5 children were all there at the time, they had been staying at her house for a few days. The children range from about 6 to 14). My ds assumed there was enough of them to do it for her.

Anyway they didn't as when we came back from shopping we noticed they had gone and the man on the other side of her was clearing her drive for her. The old lady is 90. Sad isn't it.

I am sure he will Aesop. Think these things always stay with you once you have been shown/told what to do and why you do it.
At least he has a good teacher :):)
