AH - that is a really lovely pressie.

Went over to mum's this afternoon to clear her drive of snow, but she said someone knocked at her door, gave his name and said he lived "down the road" and would clear her driveway so that she could get out if needed.
Managed to find out who he was and went and knocked on his door to say thank you and took him a bottle of wine. He refused the wine and said he was glad to be able to help and only hoped that someone would do the same for his mum if she needed help. He had asked other neighbours if there was anyone elderly that needed their driveway clearing as he felt it was important to keep an eye on the older folks. He wanted to feel part of the community as he has only recently moved in. Just brought a really warm feeling that someone could be so nice.

how lovely, nice to see chivalry is alive and kicking :)

Really lovely, especially as he was quite young as well! Really made my day as it meant I could spend time sitting with mum and letting her enjoy my company instead of running around doing stuff for her.

That was a lovely thing for him to do and so nice that you were able to spend time with your mum instead of freezing outside. It is nice to know someone is keeping an eye on things for you as well.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

No chance of any more snow round here now...just bought a 10kg bag of de-icing salt from Ald! today so law of sod means I won't need it :rotfl:

How much was it? I was thinking of putting some of the salt I got as fillers from asda down on my steps, but would need a fair bit I think.

You got any snow in Glasgow yet? DS & GF there for the weekend. Couldn't believe it when he rang me this morning to say arrived safely and sun was shining!

A bit late in replying:o:o... still not got snow, but it is very cold although no ice. They've managed to get a good weekend - for it being Jan.

I think thats a smart set of cutlery. How old is your DN by the way and does he appreciate nice things.

If he is a student type/age for example he might think its too expensive for his needs.

If he is a bit older that and he likes nice things he would love it I am sure.
