Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thanks to Valli for last weeks thread

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!
MAD half hour- Mad is the abbreviation for Make A Difference.
The idea is that you have a Forth bridge (ie never-ending - or just huge) task but that you work on it in half-hour bursts. This way you know you ARE stooping, and that you won't get it finished but you will make a difference - so it might be clearing out - the garage or shed, or clothes sorting, or weeding - you get the picture - but rather than keep going until you've lost the will to live you do half an hour...but, eventually those half hours will get the job done!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Forgive me all, for I have been awol for months (I was only 'around' for about three weeks, so I've not got high hopes, but I'm trying again)

Life got in the way, I had an awesome January, deep cleaning and decluttering most of the house. However....
I decluttered to the cellar with the intention of doing a car boot in April- the cellar is now my 'room of doom' Back in December I booked the painter and decorator to come and do our bedroom in July. I've stripped 1 and a bit walls and not sorted the wardrobes or under the bed at all....

My life has no routine due to my weird working arrangements. I've stopped writing to do lists, this is bad do me.
This is a bad time for me to get back on the fly last band wagon as Work is about to go crazy

    Help me please?!?

So... this is the start of a new week.
    This week:
    Monday: work from home
    Tuesday: Extended family day out
    Wednesday:Work from home
    Thursday: reserved for supply teaching
    Friday: Be a Mum
    Saturday: family day
    Sunday: Family day

    To do

    Must
    vac pack spare bedding
Take cardboard to recycling at the tip
Take things down to the cellar
    Wash bbq trays
Write Pickle's birthday present thank you cards

    Should
Strip the rest of the bedroom wall paper
Sweep front yard & tidy planters out

    Could
Take clothes to cash for clothes/charity shop
Sweep back yard and tidy it up

I will try and do some of the daily cleaning things too.

    Welcome back, wish

Thank you Natty for the new thread and Valli for last week's lists.

After yesterday's marathon, today I have
    - rubbed down, 2nd filled, rubbed down again and painted the holes in the LR wall
    - sorted the shelves and put all the books in tidily, and all CDs in alphabetical order so that I can find what I'm looking for!
    - hoovered the LR, DR and kitchen
    - fed us both (DH enjoyed his wargames show)
    - taken Rosie for a walk
    - watered the pots

Tomorrow I must concentrate on college work, but I will aim to do Level 1.

Hope everyone has a good week x

Flying slowly if a bit unsteadily - training wheels still on :o But all the little bits I'm doing are really starting to pay off.

Finished all the washing off and more today - throws and cushions too. Then cleaned the bathroom mirror and window and I'm not sure if I mentioned the super vacuuming yesterday in the heat. :rotfl:

Got the sewing machine out and sewed up a hole in DDs PJs - they'll last a little bit longer now. And that reminded me that I bought a whole reel of wide elastic from the fleabay, so I added some fresh elastic at the top of my PJ bottoms - two pairs had both lost their springiness and started falling down :rotfl::rotfl:

Managed to finish off my worky work as well, so all set for the week.

Oooh and a bit of tat sold on the fleabay, its china going global so I need to figure out how to pack it securely for the trip so it doesn't break. Just several more bits of tat to go and I can get rid of the unit. Slowly but surely :)

Thank you. This evening I've prepared myself as much as I can for tomorrow to hopefully fly and work to the best of my ability (it may mean getting up with the birds though. )

    Night all

  • Feeling sorry for myself. But probably in.

Have agreed to buy an old game from an ex colleague which I'll collect on Tuesday, will try and get out of a lot of crud Friday night and Saturday is working a gig as a favour to a mate.

Which leaves Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings to do stuff. Good help the person if they don't clean up after themselves this week.

Rotten night. Hot flushes which kept waking me up and me not wanting covers on but achy hip which was better when warmed up under the covers and then less achy. I'm still not up.
