I get like that sometimes too, shariann:o:rotfl:

Well done to all money makers:T:beer:. Hugs to all who are struggling with life at the moment:kisses3:

After I sorted out my Amazon listings at the weekend I sold 3 books:j which are now posted off but money not yet received. Will update when I get it (if I don't forget:o). Also used a £5 More voucher and 2 x £1 MOC coupons in Morrisons. eBay sales have ground to a halt:(.

I keep seeing articles about the increasing value of some old and rare vinyl LPs and we were left with a stack of vinyls when a friend of OH moved house in a hurry and dumped a lot of stuff with us:mad: as he had no time to get to the tip himself. He thought what he gave us was either suitable for a charity shop or worthless and I was cross with OH for acting as the middle-man as we already have more than enough 'junk' of our own to dispose of. OH dropped some of the LPs into our nearest independent record store at the weekend where they buy old vinyl and give very fair prices. The owner is 'old school' and loves to chat and explain:j. Upshot was we netted £32.50 for what he took this time, with the promise of more when I get the second batch dusted down and taken in:j

Bit of a moral dilemma though as I'm wondering whether we should contact OH's friend and let him have the money (or at least a share of it especially if we go on to sell some more). OH says I should forget that idea as his friend had discarded the LPs not even thinking a charity shop would want them and had suggested we take them to the tip with most of his other junk. Our several trips to the tip to dispose of his other junk has already cost us gallons of petrol already:(. The person concerned isn't a real friend, just someone who appears once in a blue moon, usually when he wants a favour:mad:

I am inclined to agree with your OH. I think you have done a favour for the friend and you have done all the work to earn the money so you should keep it. Well done on your amazon sales too :T

I agree CBC. You have done the donkey work. He sounds like the sort of person that would take the money without a second thought. As far as he is concerned, you took them to the tip with his other junk. Nice to see there is still a bit of value in old vinyl. I have a pile of it in the attic. One day it might be worth something. :D

You're really having a bad time at the moment. Well, not just 'at the moment', it seems to have been ongoing for months. No wonder you're feeling weary. I know it doesn't really help much but I'm sending hugs and positive 'house finding' vibes your way:kisses3:

Thanks for people's advice on whether to keep the proceeds from the sale of those vinyl LPs:T. Have split the £32.50 between OH and I and have added £16.25 to my month's total:j. Also adding a £8 MOC from Sainsburys and £3.10 cashback from Quidco that I had to submit a ticket for. Never expected I'd get that cashback, it was about 6 months since I made the original purchase:eek:, so am very happy. Doesn't take much does it, £3.10?:rotfl:.

Saved £31.60 on my car insurance but not sure whether I can add it:think:. Any advice welcome please. Had several quotes from other insurers and that was the biggest saving but it was from a company I'd never heard of:eek:. I really wanted to stay with my current insurer but didn't like their renewal quote, even though it was a tad down on last year's premium. I phoned them and they agreed to match the cheaper one I'd had from elsewhere so I'm really pleased with that:j. I don't usually haggle face to face or on the phone, I'm easily intimidated (i.e a wimp:o)

    Hello all.
Sorry you're having a bit of a time of it Aesop!

I have a dilemma and could use practical advice. The husband has been looking for a new job. He's been offered a great one who will have him there as soon as he can get away from his current employers (though he may have to give 4 wks notice, we'll see).
The new job is brilliant. We'll be £241 better off a month plus it's much nearer to drive to so savings on petrol costs.

My problem is that he's on weekly pay and will be moving to monthly (20th of the month). We're pretty much week to week and currently have no savings/credit available (I just paid off and closed a credit card, the other card is nearly maxed and next on our to pay off list). An overdraft would sound the most sensible I suppose but I don't think our BS will offer us one. Help!

Any advice to help with the transition as his wage pays food and bills in real time pretty much (I'm self employed and my earnings come in later to pay the rent etc).

It's an amazing opportunity for him, both experience, enjoyment and money-wise and will really help us become debt free quicker.
