Forget about the other car's MOT - the police will stop her one day when she's on the road and her insurer's will reject any claim she might make as it's a requirement that the insured vehicle has a current MOT.

It's a legal requirement to have an MOT, but it doesn't affect the insurance.

If your car is a write off and doesn't have an MOT, you will get a lower value for it though.

The OP has made no comment about the value of the car so I introduce this only as a discussion point but as the OP is clearly liable is his/her maximum liability the value of the car with or without an MOT?

In theory the OP needs to put the victim back in the position they were before the collision - an un MOT'd car is worth considerably less

Liability will be the third parties car as it start immediately before the accident. So without mot. If he cars a banger the third party could well be shooting themselves in the foot by claiming. That's her problem though.

Just phone the insurer. Say you want to report a bump from a couple of days ago. You've not had chance to phone them sooner. Then give the third party the insurers details. You have no need to discuss it further with the third party.

As already said, lack of MOT makes no difference.

Also, the fact she "looks European" makes no difference.

Inform your insurers, they'll deal with it, there'll be no excess to pay on her claim, your premiums will probably go up when your renewal comes but it may even out because you have an extra year of experience which would normally give a reduction.

Can you imagine giving that description to the police :rotfl:

    Blonde hair/caucasian/tall
    Black hair/olive skinned/ short
    so many variables OP.

    OP
While the MOT part is annoying for those of us driving legally as stated it has no bearing on the accident.
I would imagine the neighbour is pretty annoyed that her(presumably) correctly parked car has been hit by you.

As it stands in relation to the accident the third party has done nothing unlawful.

when you report it to your insurance company they will ask the other person to supply MOT TAX and Insurance.

let them handle it, its what you pay for
We may not win by protesting, but if we don’t protest we will lose.
If we stand up to them, there is always a chance we will win.

The car was parked in a residential bay. There was no requirement for an MOT.

Lol, no Insurer would ask for proof of road tax, they are also unlikely to ask the third party for proof of Insurance

What has that got to do with anything ;)
When you said "European" I assumed Eastern European, then the repair price shooting up so I was moving on to the next logical step :D

    As for no MOT https://www.gov.uk/report-no-mot
Is it taxed and insured ?

You are right. she may be polish or lithuanian. She came back to me with a quote of £1900 for scratches and little bend to the bumper. Two local garages saw it and told they can fix it for £250 or replace it for £350.
