Hi guys
I had a small crash the other day while parking at the parking bays at my residential flats. I am a new driver and just got two weeks old insurance. Its my fault. I am just at 5mph trying to park in the bay and accidentally hit the car standing there. No one was in the car, left the note to call me to resolve the issue. The lady looks like european came and said its fine all that she wants is to fix it. I went with her around two garages to fix the left side of bumper with few scraches and little bend(£200). But all of a sudden that night she messaged me, she is not happy with those garages and want clarification from other garages and send me a text saying the new quote is for £1900 just for a small hit on the bumfer.
I have just found that she has no MOT on her car since March and she is driving all these days.
How does this affect me as a new driver and how it affect her. Now she changed her voice saying she wants to go through insurer. what shall I do, please advice. I don't know her intentions.

It makes no difference that her car had no MOT. You are still at fault and liable for her repair costs.
Let your insurance sort it out.
Be prepared for a rise in your premiums.0 -
Ring your insurance company and tell them about the accident. Start thinking of very good reasons why you havent immediately contacted them as you shouldve done before you call them though, otherwise they might be less cooperative with you.
Forget about the other vehicle not having an mot. It doesnt mitigate anything. She might get a telling off from the police but its completely unrelated to you crashing in to her car.
The problem with other people is you cant know their intentions. Thats why you have insurance because they clearly tell you their intentions based on you doing certain things for them.0 -

Thanks for the reply. While making this claim do I have to pay my excess? or will insurance company add it to my premiums? Do I have to report the issue to police as well because she has no MOT and every time she is changing her words.0 -

Thanks for your reply. Does my premiums go up immediately or at the renewal time? It is just a small crash with little damage to one side of a bumper [got the quotes, roughly £400-500 at the Vauxhall garage, private garage £200.0 -

Forget about the other car's MOT - the police will stop her one day when she's on the road and her insurer's will reject any claim she might make as it's a requirement that the insured vehicle has a current MOT.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

She can claim direct from the OP’s insurance or use an accident management company. Either way she’ll get paid out.0 -

Her own Insurers cannot refuse a claim just because the car has no MOT, they would need to prove the car is unroadworthy and not having an MOT does not mean the car is not unroadworthy0
