I'm sure it doesn't seem like 3 months since you moved to Belfast!
Belmont's a great area, I just want to say that I hope you've settled in well and everything went smoothly for you with the move.

thanks jenny-wren- its kind of you to think of me
I cant believe the time has flown either. We really like the Belmont area and the little village and would like to buy around here at some stage- I just wish people around here realised the prices of houses had fallen over the last while0 -
Hi,
I found this thread and wonder if I can get some advice.
Looking to rent a place with my girlfriend and we've found a place in Rainey Way in Belfast.
It's in a little enclosed group of streets behind the car park that is near the cinema on Dublin Road.
The flat is great but I'm not too sure about the area.
Does anyone know?
I want to live in a mixed area but I saw a few flags that would worry me a bit.
Any info would be great.

Hi Tara.
We don't want to go over 550 a month. This flat is 500.
What do you know of the area?
We have an application in for a place in Stranmillis.
It's 525 and obviously the area is much more desirable, but the apartment in Rainey Way is better finished, I have to admit.
I'm from the Ormeau Road so I know Belfast well. Know what areas I want to avoid but don't know much about this little spot.0 -

I just know it's a bit of a dodgy spot, too close to Donegall Pass for my liking. Sectarian areas are a no-no for me (of either persuasion!).
Propertynews seems to have a lot of places under £550 at the mo. Let us know how you get on anyway.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Maybe look at ravenhill rd (top end) i.e Ardnelee/Old Bakers court - they rent about £500+ per month - nice area.

If you decided to rent your property privately say in the belfast Telegraph. Is there anywhere that would do a credit check for you, on potential tenants ? the way the rental agents do.
Or do people who rent the property themselves just go with instinct.
I have managed to download a tenancy agreement.but still not sure..0 -

I would say you could get a check done... but meet them as well and go with your instinct too. I remember good advice about buying a car privately - look at the seller as well as the car. Good luck.
p.s. where is your place? A couple of my friends are looking for somewhere new...Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
